I've seen several mock drafts with Prince falling to or past the Texans. Apparently the expectation is that he is going to be less than impressive in the 40 at the combine which should cause him to drop a bit.

Can he play NT in a 3-4 system? I know he played DT in a 4-3 system with the Bears.

Awesome...we'll draft another run-stopping corner who should probably be playing safety!

Oh, that's just great. How do you fix the problem of having too many young inexperienced CB's? You draft another one. In the 1st round! What could possibly go wrong?

Is CB going to turn into what DT used to be for this franchise? Where you waste multiple 1st round picks and end up with nothing but trash (Travis Johnson, Amobe Okoye)?

Why in the name of god didn't we lose to Jacksonville and draft Von Miller?

Because we had to save Kubiak's job! What other coach out there has the acumen to take this team all the way from 6-10 to 6-10 in just five short years?

    Okay, I'll stop now...

Amukamara must not have scored that high on the Wonderlic, methinks.

I'm holding out hope that by putting someone in charge of the defense who has actually been in charge and called a defense before will do more to "help" Kubiak than anything else they could have done this offseason.

I'm shocked he didn't go this route after the Richard Smith fiasco, but loyalties are hard to overcome, I suppose.

The sad part is that we missed out on two years of growth as a franchise by not making the playoffs the past two years. I think if we had a better direction and philosophy on defense, we would have made the playoffs in 2009 and not regressed to 6-10 last year.

For every good thing Kubiak and crew have done on the offensive side, it's their knowledge of the system and the players that they needed that allowed them to put together an offense that can be effective. For the life of me, I will never understand why they wouldn't devote the same attention and focus to the defensive side of the ball. Bring in a guy with a "system" and let him help identify the players needed for that system to get up and running.

That's not a fair assessment of Amukamara - Jackson was a tackle first, cover second guy which is why everyone was stunned to see us reach and grab him ahead of the second round.

Prince can cover AND tackle, which is why he's expected to be gone in the top ten. Texans would be lucky to land him, even if they have to trade up.

They have to press to get a upper tier starter in the draft - there's no time/place/point in rolling the dice on guys that might develop into okay starters. There's a lot of holes, but they need to be honest with themselves and chase free agents. This is the year to trade up, come away with 2 hot prospects, and fill the holes with vets.

If we trade down or reach for Brandon Harris or Aaron Williams, I'll be pissed.

I hope the Texans do talk with Kris Jenkins - but that's a very expensive gamble. Franchise savior if it works out, but it looks an awful lot like he'll never reclaim his Carolina glory days.

I have a feeling they're going to make every effort to try and move up to grab Miller. Not only does he sound like a sure-fire prospect, but in an offseason likely devoid of free agent splashes, it's the exact kind of reach-for-the-stars move this team needs to make to reignite its fan base.

Not at all; if we were choosing sides on this argument, I'd be on the don't throw the baby out with the bath water side of the fence.

This pairing of Kubiak and Wade could be the tonic that Kubes needs to save his HC career in Houston. In Wade, you seemingly have a guy with a (proven - emphasis mine) system who realizes his opportunities in the NFL will almost assuredly be as a DC from this point on. If he can be successful in Houston, it could be a perfect pair with the Kubiak/Dennison Offense.

i'm guessing we will be better on defense, and a better team with the phillips hiring. however, i still stand by the opinion that kubiak does not have what it takes to lead us to the promised land.
