The Princess and the Frog - 85% - I like this a lot better than most Disney Princess movies. I thought it captured New Orleans well in traditional animation, and the music was really good.
This Is It - 8/10 - I thought I would hate this movie but I ended up really loving it. Say what you want about MJ, but the guy was AMAZINGLY good at what he did right up to the end. It was pretty cool seeing him having normal everyday problems like with his in-ear monitor. Also really cool seeing him interact with the dancers, singers, and band members. It was like he was on the same level as them. He wanted things the way he wanted them - and he didn't budge or cut corners to get there - but he was never arrogant about it. He was always very encouraging towards them even if something wasn't right. Like when the female guitarist has a solo and he kept telling her "this is your moment to shine." And the band...holy crap, the band was just SMOKING.
catfish - 6.3. not at all what i expected out of the last 45 minutes, but once i got over it wasn't a horror/supernatural/crime thing, it was actually very touching and interesting.
Buried 7 out of 10 - This one must have cost $100 to make (once you watch it you'll understand why I say that). Received all sorts of critical acclaim, and it is one of the "you will love it or hate it") films. I enjoyed it. Stars Ryan Reynolds in a very serious role. Go rent it...
I just watched this: 6.5/10... action was good, but damn, i wish the movie/story/ending was better...plus no t&a...boo
In terms of letter grade, I actually gave it an F... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5038475&postcount=1083
The American - 3/10 Whata bore fest! I probably slept like 5 times during the whole sitting. It felt like it was 6 hours long. Nice t*** though. Ninja Assassin - 1/10 LOL. that is all. Devil's Advocate - 5/10 Saw it for the first time. Nice t***. The story was so and so...
Restrepo - 10/10 because it's an award winning documentary of our soldiers battling in Afghanistan Available for instant queue on Netflix
Anyone saw Let Me In? I was watching it yesterday while also playing the 2k11, so I wasn't concentrating on it. I got the gist of the story I think and found it quite boring. Didn't finish the movie probably got half way or 2/3 at the most before I turned it off and finished my game. Does the movie get any better? Was there a surprise ending worth me going back and rewatching this movie?
It's a movie about relationships and if you don't enjoy something subtle and measured you won't enjoy it. For being an unnecessary remake of the excellent Swedish original Let The Right One In it's American counter part is very well done but not your run of the mill horror movie.
Thanks. I guess that was my problem. I was expecting goosebumps type of horror flick. Usually horror flicks involving little children are scary. I was like wtf throughout the movie, "where's the psychological scary ish (smith?)?"
*I Spit On Your Grave(Remake)-Basic rape/revenge story, I never saw the original, so can't really compare. The brutality isn't anymore extreme than some other movies I've seen, (I'm talking about you Japan and France) but watching a rape heavy movie still isn't fun. Obviously, with movies like this it banks on the act of rape being so horrific, that the revenge is enjoyable. And to be honest, I found the death scenes in the second half of the film to be quite creative. The acting is up to par for a horror film, but I've always thought unknown actors work best. Which is why I have to mention something, one of the rednecks is Daniel Franzese...the gay guy from Mean Girls. The entire time I couldn't stop thinking of him screaming "I want my pink shirt back! I WANT MY PINK SHIRT BACK!" Yeah, I've seen that movie, I'm ashamed. Overall, this isn't a movie I can recommend, certainly not a movie you would watch more than once. 1.5 out of 5. *Let Me In(American remake/adaptation)-I'll admit, I'm a big fan of Let The Right One In, so I put off seeing this move for a long time. Why? It's a remake, it's gotta suck. But I was very surprised at how much I liked it. In many ways, it follows a shot for shot criteria, but somehow really stands on it's own. I thought the car flipping scene was a very creative alternative, to the gym scene in the original. I could break this movie down for pages, but to keep it shorter, I'll go random thoughts..... CGI was a poor choice, Chloe Moretz was great as usual. Tries to be more of a horror film compared to the original, not necessarily a good thing. Love the story of friendship, loneliness, love. It doesn't use these things as a tease, like that garbage Twilight. Heard criticism from some, that it's just to boring and slow for their taste. Overall, you can definitely tell Matt Reeves held the source material close when making LMI, and it payed off. Is Let Me In completely unnecessary? Yep. But, I loved it, unapologetic about it, it's like my childhood...minus the vampire. IMHO, this is a 4 out of 5.
Hall Pass 7/10 Ok this isn't oscar material and some parts dragged but there were a lot of funny/gross/lol moments...plus the aussie chick was hawt...
The Town 8.5/10 Thought it was really well written and directed. It was pretty exciting and the acting was pretty decent. Gone Baby Gone 7.5/10 I'm starting to really like these Boston themed movies and Affleck makes. This one being his directing Debut was overall pretty good, but wasn't perfect all around either. I thought Ben should've played the lead instead of his brother just because Casey looks too much like a little kid.
Drive Angry 3D - D- - could have been great cheesy fun but it fails on most cases, some cool 3D action sequences and Amber Heard in 3D is very nice... All Star Superman DTV - B - slow but very well thought out Superman story, pretty much about Supes coming to grips with his mortality, I'd have liked it more if I were a bigger Superman fan.
Total Recall 8.5/10 Starship Troopers 8.5/10 Never really got into it in my early years. Finally sat through it all and totally love it!! It's just over the top and such a blast laughing my ass off. I'm such a big fan of RoboCop and Paul Verhoeven is freaking brilliant with these 3 sci-fi classic! The man need to do another sci-fi before he retired. Hopefully a re-team with Arnold for CRUSADE.
