    http://www.cracked.com/article_19048_6-important-things-you-didnt-know-were-running-out-of.html

    The Things:

    1. Water
    2. Phosphorus
    3. Tequila
    4. Medical Isotopes
    5. Chocolate
    6. Helium

I am a pretty faithful Cracked reader and I read this article today. Not sure all of those are extremely important but some most definitely are. What do you guys think about this? Is it something to be concerned about or is it just more hysteria brought on by others? Is oil the only thing we should be worried about spiking in price the next 10, 15, 20.....50 years?

I knew something about the 1st and 5th items listed. Didn't really know about the other 4 though.

I don't think we should be worried about running out of water. The technology is out there to purify the dirtiest of liquids into clean, drinkable water.

There are groups that bring these machines to places like Haiti to purify dirty, putrid, waste-filled water in very little time at all.

We can't survive long without water. Our world is made of an assload of water. Ultimately, necessity, the mother of invention, dictates that someone will make a fortune on cheaper/quicker/better desalination.

In all seriousness, 4 is probably the most worrisome.

Well, eventually the population will overtake the water supply, no matter how much we can filter it.

I'm surprised Lithium didn't make the list. With the boom in hand-held devices (cell phones, cameras, medical units, etc), lithium prices will be increasing.

Great article btw. Very entertaining to read.

There will be a war for water that will make the wars for oil look like nothing. Probably not during my lifetime, but possibly in my children's there will be a massive war for water and food.

I don't think people will invest the time, money, or effort into desalinating water. I'd like to think I'm wrong, but I have very little confidence in the intelligence of people.
