I am looking for some good deep dish delish to clog my arteries with and I seriously dont want to go to Chicago to do so. Help me out plz!
We really don't have one. Barry's and Star are OK, and I've heard of others, but none are very good. I gotta be honest, though. Of the three Chicago institutions, their pizza was my least favorite. I love their hot dogs, and you can get an identical one at JCI. They order them from the same suppliers as every vendor in Chicago (unions... go figure) But my favorite is the Italian beef sandwich, and they do a decent mock-up at the Original Italian Beef place in the Heights. I hear they make the pizza there as well, but as I said, I wasn't a huge fan when I went there. Interesting aside: The "Chicago" pizza was invented by a Texan. Look it up.
I think I saw this place the other day. Westheimer and Fondren? Also to OP, were you on reddit earlier? I saw a guy post a picture from Chicago
They have several locations. Best thing? You can order by the slice. http://fuzzyspizza.net/menu.html
I will say this. One of my best friends is Italian and just opened up a Napoli location on Richmond and Chimney Rock that I know has a pizza oven. I'll email him and see what he thinks. He's an ******* though, so no promises, but he likes a challenge.
Great Pizza is the one food that Houston lacks Barry's probably has the best deep dish, but I haven't been there in years. Being Italian, when we want pizza, we make it ourselves
This. I had been to it once about a year back and it was really good. But me and a couple of friends went again about two weeks back and it was seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten. My top three favorite places to eat in and around Houston now. Inside the loop I will have to go with Pink's though I don't know if they have a deep dish like the op is looking for.
Thanks for the replies, Will def hit up some of the preferred locations. Ill be spreadin some rep in a bit when I get done with reports! Thanks!
romano's on west gray is supposed to have the best crust and bambolino's on westheimer is decent would reccomend brooklyn pizzeria in humble; closest thing to New York style pizza...
I go to Romano's about once a week and it's a really great Italian and pizza restaurant. Very NY in style and prices are very reasonable. The OP specifically asked for a Chicago-style pizza, though. And while I'll always speak highly of Romano's their pizza is NY style, not Chicago.
Star pizza gained popularity years ago because they started selling things like "Margarita pizzas" and "spinach and artichoke" pizzas. When it comes to core pizza styles (normal, Chicaco, NY, etc) Star is not nearly as good as other restaurants mentioned here.
