This year, Aaron has been one of the few(really two) players that had a big negative while on the court. Maybe he could have turned it around to the "net neutral" he was last year. Maybe not. But to say that he contributed to anything other than losing THIS YEAR is based not on facts but nostalgia.
This. I definitely agree. On the other hand Brooks was hampering the offensive flow. He was also a liability on defense.
Battier did not cause us to loose any games while he was a rocket...brooks on the other hand did..this season anyway..
I think the Rockets' chemistry will finally solidify now that Brooks is gone with his sulking and poor decision-making. We now have a clear pecking order at the PG. I think we'll go on a late run for the 8th seed. Hope so, because I'd like RA to think we're going in the right direction so he'll re-sign. Also, having a playoff team makes us more attractive to prospective free agents in the off-season.
we are 3.5 games behind memphis for 8th spot, you guys wreckon we sitll have a chance .. since we are on this 4 winning streak ?
They might as well try as hard as they can for that playoff spot because there is NO point in tanking these last few games (there are 6 teams with much worse records in the league than the Rockets, so they will have a low pick in a reportedly weak draft).
There are plenty of threads open where the OP could have tossed this truly amazing pearl of wisdom. And there are hundreds of pages, even before the trades, ripping up AB and Battier. Fun times were had.
I think Battier's defense on this team is over rated when he is so limited on offense. True he makes the opponents wing player work harder for his shots but that's on 1 player he has an effect against. When you have no center, you will still give up a ton of points and a strong wing defender like battier isn't going to change that.
Don't know why so many posters here dog Brooks. He's one year removed from most improved player and besides Martin was the only player on our roster who could get his own shot. I like the trade overall but the Suns did get the better player in the deal.
A lot of guys already noted but not having brooks playng 20 mins a night really gave the bench a lift. That was not brooks' fault, but rather Adelman who kept doing the C-bud treatment even when it was already hurting the team. Battier contributed a lot to the team even if he hardly shot the ball, his defense, rebs and intangibles were a net positive for the team. However as long as C-bud keeps his offense up his loss really won't be felt.
