I stopped by an AT&T store and checked out the Atrix. It seemed kinda cheesy looking when I held it. Too plasticky to me. I actually liked the look and feel of the HTC Inspire and the general feel of some of the Windows phones (the OS interface, that is). But... none of them moved me to buy them, although I almost sprung for the $49 upgrade for the Inspire. That's cheap as hell for that phone. Guess I'll keep using my iPhone 3G until the next batch of phones come out, although that Inspire is tempting me...

It's been a week now... and I'm really liking this phone. I know a lot of people may criticize it's outside texture and feel.. but to me that's one of it's advantages. Because it's plastic, you don't have to worry about damage to the phone when you drop it unless you scrape it. The phone itself though feels like the fastest phone on the market. The problem is.. the Tegra 2 Chip isn't designed to be worked with Froyo... it's more for Gingerbread and that's why the full experience isn't there yet.

Hopefully AT&T will release Gingerbread for it. They took forever on their other android devices in terms of upgrading them to 2.2. Still no sign of AT&t unleashing the HSPA beast lol ? Now I'm planning on getting the cousin of your phone, the Motorola Bionic for Verizon. It's just gonna be very tempting to not get the thunderbolt but hopefully i remain patient enough. That 4G LTE is killer

Yeah, it'll take a while for Gingerbread to come on this device... but honestly I'm just hoping that bootloader is unlocked sooner or later. I keep hearing mixed things about the bootloader being encrypted.

The HSPA+ situation is really comical considering how much AT&T has emphasized 4G. It's only available for 10 cities right now and it doesn't even work in those cities. I'm going to patiently wait though.

The Bionic is a great phone, the only difference that separated the Bionic and the Atrix was the webtop stuff... which honestly isn't that big anymore at least IMO. I tried out the laptop dock at the AT&T store and it was pretty cool but the price really makes you want to look the other way.

Verizon's LTE is pretty much going to take things away for the cellular industry until AT&T and T-Mobile... and probably even Sprint get to upgrading their networks.

If the bootloader isn't cracked by the time the Bionic comes out, I would go with an HTC phone such as that Thunderbolt.

Is this worth replacing my iPhone with? It sounds great and all I really want to try it seeing as it will be my first android phone.

I had an iPhone before this and I love this phone. I would recommend that you try it out first in an AT&T store.. play around with the phone a little and see if it's right for you.

The Inspire is just a repackaged HTC EVO 4G from Sprint. Definitely get HTC Inspire 4G if Motorola isn't your thing.

Yup, I honestly was really close to purchasing the Atrix but HSPA+ threw me away as a consumer. Yeah, the price is outrageous, might as well buy a laptop

Oh btw, the Bionic is getting the Webptop just like the Atrix :)

Yeah it really blows that the bootloader is signed by Motorola lol.

About Sprint's 4g, the Wi-max stuff was a fail. Part of the 2005 Nextel Merger came with a condition with the FCC that they had to release a 4g network within 4 years, and they did.

Now Sprint is talking with wholesale 4g provider, Lightsquared.

As it's projected... it's just a matter of a few years before Android will take the throne for the most users. That's not why I switched from iOS to Android, but if you can read data and graphs well... Android is growing at an enormous rate. I think Google needs to take a bigger approach in it's marketing towards developers and get some more big names to commit to the market like Apple has done with their App Store.

Have you seen the daily android activation video on Youtube? It's pretty neat. Yeah, I agree 100%

There's a reason the Inspire is cheaper though. It has less power, memory, and screen resolution than the Atrix.

I agree it looks and feels nicer though.

But I'll be getting the Atrix at the end of March when my contract is up. Hopefully they come up with a cheaper, better laptop dock (or why not a tablet dock?)

Exactly... the Inspire may feel better... but it's no where near the phone the Atrix is or capable of being. I know some disgruntled Inspire users tried to make the argument that because it's cheaper and on HTC, it's a better buy... but IMO that's just not the case when you look at smartphones ahead. You'll be doing yourself a favor by getting the hardware the Atrix has.

What is the best current ATT phone? I have the Captivate right now. Looking at the Atrix and Inspire. I like the big screen of the Inspire, but the Atrix seems faster. Samsung has a 4.5in dual processor phone coming (anyone know when) that I might also consider. Anything else on the horizon? I was excited about the Dell Android phone coming but it looks like it might already be lacking in the hardware department.
