I like how the same people who say he's a bust after 800 minutes are the ones who say Terrence Williams is something more than a 12th man after 2000 minutes, lmao.

    Thanks.

We essentially got him and a pick in exchange for an expiring guy on his last legs as an NBA player. I would do that deal every day and twice on Sundays. That said, I would not necessarily rush him into the rotation. He needs serious training and refocusing, so I'd be on the phone with CD and Dr34m scheduling immediate lessons. Give him 5-10 mpg for now to strictly work on what they are teaching him. This season, for both he and Williams, is the kiddie pool where they cannot drown.

    LOL.

That's the exact quote that Worrell dropped on-air tonight in regard to the trade.

I do like the way he gets up and down the court. At least he hustles.

props to OP for calling it.

props to OP for not pretending to be inside moreys office. and if OP is inside moreys office I must say I prefer this type of predicting than the cryptic variety.

    good job

Thabeet is not the only number 2 pick that spent time in the D-league. Marcus Fizer played in that league as well.

Thabeet and a first round pick for an expiring contract and an undrafted rookie PG that has shooting issues.

    Sometimes Morey is amazing.

Anybody notice how Hakeem's showing him how to flick his wrist on a jump hook instead of that shot put/shove from the palm of his hands hook shot I've seen him do? Hopefully his jumphook looks more like I saw in this video instead of that other video somebody posted where he was shooting it with the base of his palm.

Yes. I also noticed that Thabeet exhibited some fluidity in his moves and good balance (except for the last post spin where he was slightly off balance, but not by much). That tells me that he isnt some sluggish oaf, but is simply very early in his basketball development. I also liked his release point on the jump hook. It was nice and high, like Dream used to shoot it. Thabeet should be working with Dr34m as much as humanly possible, because the connection is undeniably natural, and they will focus just as much on the mental aspects (where Thabeet lacks most) as the physical points.

Also, the fact that Hakeem was teaching him counters to the hook shows me that he had confidence Thabeet had/could master the initial move into the jump hook. That means Hasheem isn't as slow mentally as some may suggest. The capacity to learn is there. What has been lacking is the guidance. No more, though, for he is now employed by the NBA equivalent of the Big Man Academy.

I am impressed that this thread has stayed so relevant for so long, but is still only 11 pages....we can usually get at least 15 pages out of "what's up with Malick Badiane" post

Personally I wouldn't want to cook with Thabeet. I have a feeling our diets are completely different and we wouldn't agree on what to cook.

While it is fine to go off tha beaten track to find a big man, Thabeet is very raw now. Tha Rockets and Thabeet himself need to turn Thabeet around or else tha only thing they'll get from playing him is tha beating of a lifetime.

Thabeet working out with Hakeem<<< Working out with Carrol Dawson.

Carrol Dawson is the tutor behind Hakeem and Yao. I would guess that at some point Thabeet will see time with all four in Dawson, Hakeem, Sikma, and Mutumbo, but Dawson is really the main behind the scenes who is the best at coaching these bigs when they are at their most raw form.

Hakeem can teach little things, but his teaching might be a bit advanced for Thabeet. There is something about what Dawson does that lays the foundation.

-Also Im looking for major improvement from Jordan Hill in the offseason. Last seasons injury kept him off the court and out of town. This offseason, I would hope that he can stay in town and get alot of work in. This next season might be his last chance.

First off, I've never watched Thabeet play. But I doubt that really matters, since he hasn't shown anything while playing. Any kind of analysis on Thabeet will have to be based on the dreaded P word. With that said there are two things that interest me about him.

    1. From all the interviews he seems to be able to express himself pretty well. That might not seem like a big deal, but sounding like a complete dumbass is a huge red flag for me. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to play basketball. But if your intelligence is so subhuman that you are too slow to even comprehend questions and answer them properly, you probably won't succeed at basketball, or anything in life. This was the case for Stromile Swift, and my immediate first impression for Jordan Hill. What this tells me is that, by my totally non-scientific and subjective conjecture- Thabeet is actually, truly, "raw". Unlike others who were referred to that only as an euphemism for "dumbass".

    2. Infinitely more important than 1., which was just my own random guessing, what gives me hope is that Morey and Co. were actually interested in the guy, from the start. That was the point of the OP after all, Morey gets what he wants. The fact that they were interested in him predraft tells me they saw something there. And usually when they see something, it turns into Brandon Roy, Courtney Lee, Landry, Brooks, etc etc. In other words I trust in their talent evaluation. While I don't expect Thabeet to turn out anywhere near as good as those guys, since he has proven nothing except being not very good at basketball, the fact that we ever had interest gives me a little hope that the dreaded P word could be actually be worth something, this time.

    One can only hope.
