Deke was one of the greatest Centers in the last 20 years. .. he wasn't a backup, sorry but I've seen people reference him as such just cuz that's what he was over here don't forget he got drafted in 1990 and came over here in like 06

Anybody who is a true Basketball Fan & understands the game would realize he should be exactly what we need, A shotblocking rebounder. Anything else is just gravy. If he can get 20 mins a game he will alter the lay up drills we've been witnessing all year because we have no height. We don't need offense, we have plenty, we need somebody to protect the basket. I think it was a good trade & TWill will fill in nicely for Shane with better offense. I love it, Go Rockets!!

I agree about that. The 1st fall-down was straight clumsiness tripping over his own 2 feet. All the other fall-downs were hustle plays and tripping over players. He does need a little more body control and awareness, but you figure its better to pull a player BACK from the play than it is urge him INTO the play.

Thabeet is young and 7'3 so he is worth the risk. If he turns into a good defensive center it will be viewed as a good trade. We have guys that can score we just need a presence in the lane.

Not sure if I am reading too much into it, but that tweet about Adelman commenting on not sure what he is supposed to do with Thabeet, sure makes me think he isn't going to play him much, if ever. Very disappointed to think that, when we should at least put some height in to see what he can do on defense. :(

Y'know what I get out of that video?

    A) Thabeet has some natural blocking ability that could develop into some formidable rim-defending skills

    B) That backing track features more instances of the N-word than a damned Klan rally ;)

Believe it or not, I think his overall averages compared to where he was drafted may cause some of us to be setting expectations too low. If you look at his game logs over the final month of last season, it looks like you could expect to get some decent minutes from him. The numbers aren't great by any means, but I think that's what we should expect him to build from, not the 1.2s you see in his averages for this year.

I have mixed feelings about Hasheem. I'm not impressed with this highlights video and I think the fact that he's so tall and mobile has obviously brought him far as a basketball player. But, as other have said, he needs to bulk up BADLY. I have no doubt Kyle Lowry could kick his butt. I wonder if he'll be less foul-prone once he has more strength.

What is Thabeet's injury history...or hopefully, lack thereof?

imagine when yao comes back from injury we got Thabeet 7'3 at power forward and Yaoming 7'6 at Center.

    Won't last very long.

One will get injured then the other will foul out.
