Yep. It's so good. Watching the rise of Crixus is pretty awesome, too. I can't wait for Batiatus to get his revenge, as well... it'll be sweet. Reaaaalllyyy.... I expected him to die, perhaps by the hands of Oenomaus whose wife he screwed. Maybe it could be for some sort of flashback in the sequel. I'll remain uncertain of his fate for now.
Yea I didn't expect Ghannicus or Daltorae's wife to survive the prequel as neither one was in Blood and Sand. Maybe a Cryksis vs Ghannicus showdown of some sort which would make sense with how the Blood and Sand story started, Cryksis would assume Champion of the house and Ghannicus will be dead
I thought Doctore would kill him as well, also his wife, but I read this today http://www.denverpost.com/television/ci_17136855 sounds like he will be joining the cast full time in the 2nd season Maybe Crixius defeats him but doesnt kill him and Gannigus is sold
I have been surprisingly impressed with the prequel. I didn't think it would have the same magic with out spartacus. Great show.
Really? I thought Spartacus was the least interesting character. I mean, it's not like he can die before the rebellion begins, so there's no tension there, and he's kind of just your average "Must avenge my woman!!" type. Watching him slaughter Glaber's guards (and dozens of others) was certainly badass, though.
Yeah, but I'd never heard of those guys before watching the show (never seen the Kubrick film). Worked out nicely for me! I did eventually grow to like Spartacus (Bringer of Rain), but his arc wasn't nearly as interesting as the other leads', IMO.
Awesome Ending! Wasn't Andy Whitfield supposed to make an appearance?? Link I don't remember seeing him..
****ing Awesome ending And no Andy Whitfield was not in the episode, just a voice over from the final scene of Blood and Sand I also read on IGN earlier that Lucretia (Lucy Lawless) will be returning for season 2 as her character survived her wounds apparently
Annnnnd a new best kill for the series. Great finale with a few winks to Blood and Sand. I can't recall enjoying any sort of prequel more than this one. The only part I didn't like was that it was over so fast. They could have easily stretched this sucker out to a full season. Have to say I'm surprised to see Gannicus make it. I'm sure they're just waiting to kill him in Season 2. Not even Diona made it out alive. That smarmy greaseball who instigated the DP sure seemed torn up about it. Poor Ashur was so jazzed to team up with Crixus to kill Gannicus and the big guy. He never got the chance to kick sand in their eyes.
Awesome finale! The only thing that sucks is that Batiatus will not be back for season 2. He may have been a weasel, but the guy brought a lot to the show.
The final kill was really something else. I still want the black guy to take out Gannicus for his lack of loyalty.
At least Ashur makes it back. He is probably one of my Fav Villians. Evil, conniving and manipulative to the max [The scene where he forces Crixxus to reveal his love for ole girl was classic.] H*ck the way he sold out his friend was wilde too Rocket River
The funniest thing to me about this prequel season was finding out that there was a pretty damn good reason Asher was never introduced back into the gladiator ranks after his leg injury healed (in the first season, Blood and Sand). The guy was never really worth a damn as a fighter, yet somehow never knew it. Glad they kept Gannikus alive to come back in the next season. I really enjoyed his character. I was a little frustrated with the Primus of the games at the end until that final kill, which was just so brutally awesome I immediately forgave the confused mess the previous action was.
Gannigus was one of the generals of the slave rebellions along with Spartacus, Crixius, and Oenemaus, so that won't happen. And I think Oenemaus is the first to die among them
