Couldn't have said it better. That is definitely the best case scenario, and to be honest, I would be more than happy with that since I'm expecting about a fourth of it. Pugs
Jerry West overrated ? He said this 4 months ago ........just wait. And while Jack and Dream are going to factor into in his development, it is CD that will have the biggest impact.
How old is the kid though? I heard he is still extremely young. "IF" he develops into a poorman's Mutombo (minus the rebounding) this was a good haul. If he doesn't, it's still a good haul.
There, fixed it for you. He's still bringing championships to LA though. But that likely ends now that Memphis no longer has someone of Gasol's caliber.
I don't know about that.....While noone will confuse him with his brother, Little Marc has game and is getting better every year......A serious 5 he is.
Once those players were traded is when they truly flourished. In Memphis they couldn't perform up to their true potential.
All these players were traded away by Memphis and you could say that all of them came back to haunt them.
I think Thabeet could lead the league in blocks if he had a starter's minutes. Dunno about the rest of his game...
For his offensive game, think of Hill on a bad day, with much less coordination and worse hands. If he could learn to anticipate rebounds, he would be much more effective on both ends.
Great Players show domination even in their rookies season, see Hakeem, Shaq, DRob, Duncan and many others. Even Yao Ming put up 13/9 in his rookie season to prove that he is a starter material. Bogut and Hibbert actually have decent rookie season whereas Milicic cant get playing times simply because the Pistons were a contender back then and Milicic also admitted he didn't work hard enough while with the Pistons. Thabeet cant get any playing times on a sorry-a$$ed team said alot about his work ethic and skills. Unless there is a sudden change of heart else I will say he will only be a serviceable big man, those backup type, in this league. Chances for Thabeet to become an allstar like Yao is like me screwing Megan Fox. Very slim. Chances for Thabeet to become a Franchise player like Hakeem is like me playing foursome with Megan Fox, Emma Watson and Lindsay Lohan. NOT GONNA HAPPEN!
Kendrick Perkins' best season: 8.5pts, 8.2 reb, 2 blocks. Point being even with such a low ceiling that can be a pretty effective stat line for a starting center in this league right now.
How? Gasol: By far the most talked about deal. Was likely a Jerry West deal, and even then they got Marc Gasol back, and would be a lot better if they actually hit on their high picks rather than taking busts Lowry: Done to make room for Mike Conley. Conley has since improved quite a bit Battier: Netted them Rudy Gay, the better player today. Gasol: Played at the same level in LA as in Memphis(injury plagued years notwithstanding). Only difference is that he played with Kobe in LA. Lowry: Played very well in Memphis, but had the luck of playing with a #4 pick. The skills he brought to Houston was evident in Memphis. Battier: Morey didn't have a hard on for him because of his "potential", but rather his production while playing for Memphis.
All of the people you mentioned at least shown some life in their first two years while Thabeet has been a total deadweight bust. If YOU had any knowledge of the game you would know that most 7-3+ guys that have played in the NBA have been nothing but big stiffs, Yao Ming was probably the biggest exception. Thabeet is lazy and unmotivated as well as being a height that has its limitations. Not a good combo. Most of the time these 7' plus guys are just tall and thats all
