Ok, after receiving so much heat in my other thread for not seeing some of his best films, I'm going to buy the top few Robert DeNiro movies and watch them. Luckily I pass right by Best Buy on my way home from work, so hopefully they have them in stock, otherwise I'll just have to order from somewhere online.

I'm going to try and buy A Bronx Tale on my way home tonight, so I'm leaving that one off the list.

Hopefully there will be enough votes to proclaim a few obvious winners, I'd like to get at least 3.

    Taxi driver.

Goodfellas is more of a Ray Leotta movie.

Can't go wrong with any of those. I would start with Taxi Driver myself. That movie just takes you to a different world. So much fun to totally immerse yourself into it. I'm waiting for the day when Netflix finally starts streaming it.

Some others you may want to check out are Awakenings (arguably his most challenging role) and as I mentioned in the other thread, the underrated This Boy's Life.

    Happy watching!

That may be true, but it's still the best movie on that list by a slim margin.

Raging Bull is the best film on the list, imo...

I'm glad Taxi Driver came in 2nd place in the polls.. Not too many people think it's his best performance but I think it's the best DeNiro movie ever....

May I recommend realigning your priorities? Go watch Godfather Part I then start your Deniro trip with Part II and go on from there, you won't regret a minute of it.

I liked his recent film where he played a Dad who just showed up at his kids' doorsteps. One of his kids was in trouble in Mexico but he had no clue. The other kids were keeping it quiet and away from dear old Dad. Then, it ended tragically for the son with Dad in the dark the whole time. Basically, a story about how to tip toe around Dad and keep secrets from him...because kids don't want parents to worry...or some crap.

Don't buy this film. :p

All the ones you mentioned you need to see. DeNiro is simply one of the finest actors ever.

This is damn near criminal. DeNiro is in Part II, but the Godfather should be on anyone's list of must-watch movies.
