Can't go wrong with either of them. It seem like these kind of debates change with whatever week it is.
I'd take Westbrook over Rose. Westbrook has better D and bullies his guy. He can drive the lane and absorb the contact to get free throws, and scoring with the clock stopped is a huge plus over Rose.
I would take Rose by a slight margin. Westbrook has such an awkward shooting form. Rose is worst at defense. But defense is something that you can work on and become better at. However shooting form is something that you are more or less stuck with. I don't think Westbrook will ever become a great outside shooter with reliable 3 point range. But defensively right not Westbrook is much better.
That's crazy. One of the first things all rookies work on is shooting mechanics. Rose just last year wasn't even a threat from deep and your trying to tell me Westbrook can't develop a 3?
Tonight against the Cavs, Westbrook pulled the same stuff on Mo Williams as against CP3. Early in the 3rd quarter, Williams starts getting chippy and commits a couple of hard fouls on Thabo Sefolosha. For the next 8-9 minutes, WB goes out of his way to create contact with every chance he gets. It was funny. WB probably needs to get a better grip on his emotions. Then Ryan Hollins and KD have to be separated.
That is flawed argument. It's not like Rose plays with a bunch of scrubs. The opposition defense has to focus on Boozer, Deng, and etc.
Rose. The impact he has on his team is more significant then Westbrook on his. This is with the team still figuring out Boozer.
Great thread. It's certainly debatable, as both have really stepped up their games and will be superstars for years to come. I'm so impressed with Rose's quickness. But at this point I've got to give the nod to WB, based on his better defense (he can be a monster) and Rose's reluctance to draw contact.
why only against Houston? you didnt see him play against the lakers? he played amazing against them. I would definitely pick Derrick Rose, but of course I dont mind having westbrook.
That's because Durant beasted up last year, so he can't really make that "jump" since he is already there. To the thread topic, I'd take Rose, by a hair. Both are similar in skill, and so much fun to watch, but there's just something about Rose's game I like more than Westbrook's.
Like many have said, you can't go wrong with either one, but I'll have to go with Westbrook. Westbrook puts up similar numbers as Rose despite the fact that he isn't even the first scoring option. They're both dynamic athletes that can really change the pace which makes both of them so special. However, while Rose has the better jumpshot, Westbrook is more efficient in scoring the ball than Rose is and he also has the reputation of being a good defender as evidenced by statistics (2.1 spg vs. 1.0 spg).
Westbrook. He's a better defender and slightly i mean every so slightly inferior than Rose right now but Rose has A LOT OF WORK to do on D
