I think Brooks is gone regardless because 1) he is one of our most valuable trade assets, 2) Lowry has a reasonable contract, 3) the development of Ish Smith since summer league has been very encouraging, and 4) AB is going to get paid in free agency if he stays healthy.

Plus a lot defense and hustle plays witch doesn't show on the stats sheet. There is a reason a healthy Lowry has much bigger impact towards winning than AB for 2 years in a row, starting or not.

AB nuthanggers can't see the big picture. All they see is shooting, shooting. They don't know 10% shooting percentage difference in every 10 shots only cost 2 points, one steal or one defensive stop in 10 possessions does that trick already.

really? talk about brooks fans making up their mind

you can count on your two hands the number of players that consistently got 20/10 last year ....there really isnt many of them and most of them are all-stars/all-nba guys

asking lowry to do that to be a starter is just being biased.

i think brooks will be starting again once he is back but if the starters/team dont do well he will probably have a short leash and have kyle back in the starting lineup...just what i think is going to happen

I think Adelman will play the "Im going to let Brooks come off the bench now because hes not 100% Card" and if Lowry continous playing like he is right now and Yao is integrated normally and we start playing winning basketball, Brooks may stay on the bench even after hes 100%.

It's ironic that Morey traded Rafer for Lowry in order to make room for Brooks to start. Now Lowry is threatening to take away Brooks' starting job. Anyway, when Lowry signed that big contract this summer, Brooks' days were numbered.

The 2nd unit clearly needs a leader, they struggled scoring today. I think Brooks would fit in nice w the 2nd unit, i dont like when he and martin play together

Lowry gives the starting unit a more defensive identity.

and Lowry should be happy going to the bench after his ridiculously solid play?

looks like the majority is on board with Lowry starting (70/30)

if brooks isn't expendable now, he never will be

Right, because the GARM has such a broad, long-term point of view, and Lowry didn't just come off a monster night

I'm glad the Rockets aren't run by a panel of GARM posters, we probably still wouldn't have any wins

You mean like the first 5 games of the season?

Btw, this isn't just about tonight. Reference the other Lowry thread on the first page and you'll see that Kyle has been tearing it up for 10-12 games.

It's a tough choice, Lowry is certainly performing well, but we still need that inside outside presence when Yao returns. Lowry can't hit the three consistently and that could hurt us with Yao in the lineup.

48.4% in his last 12 games.

Kevin Kolb lost the starter job when he went down with an injury. Why can't AB.. Since when did he become some all-star that can't come off the bench?

Edit: Barbosa, Terry, Ginobili. There's nothing wrong with being a sixth man that has a green light to shoot.

Why does everyone expect Brooks to get a massive contract in free agency? The only team with cap space that has shown any interest in him is Sacramento, and we have no idea what their level of interest is. They might sign him to a big deal, but their track record says they won't. They were interested in Nate Robinson for years, but couldn't get a deal done. Nate is very similar in statistics and style to AB: same TS%, same points per minute, same production as starters. Nate has hit free agency twice in the past two years and got offered bupkis. And he's a damn good player.

If we bring Brooks off the bench for the rest of the year, he won't get a big contract. Of course, the landscape can change dramatically after the trading deadline. And who knows what the new CBA will bring? Still, I highly doubt Brooks gets overpaid.

im not sure why people dont want to have 2 good point guards on the team. It is a great thing to have both these guys on the roster, regardless of who is starting. It would be a shame to throw either one away.

I want to see how Lowry performs in the playoffs (if we make it) before taking a call. I cannot see Lowry thriving against playoff-intensity defense. AB, on the other hand, can do well as we have already seen.

but hey, KL has proved me wrong all the time. i hope he proves me wrong in this category also

Lowry should start. I feel very confident in Lowry to run the team. But he starts is not so significant as who finishes and Brooks should finish,

Yes Brooks should finish. He is our best clutch scorer at the end of games.

So how do you solve this dilemna?

Well it's quite simple. you have 96 minutes between the 2 guard spots. Divide it by 3 and you have 32 each. 32 for Martin, 32 for Lowry, 32 for Brooks. Of course that will vary depending who is hot and who the opposing player is. But on most nights Brooks, Lowry and Martin should get most if not all of those 96 minutes. Which also means there will be long minutes when both Lowry and Brooks will be on the court. ANd against some of the elite sg's that could be a problem. But 3 things can offset that.

    1. the elite players have to rest sometime
    2. Brooks isn't that much worse than Martin on D
    3. With Yao back we will have someone to guard the goal.

I am actually excited about the possibillities of those 3 running the guard spots. Brooks will give us one of the best 6th man in the league. Martin is one of the purest shooters and Lowry's hustle and hard play is contagious.

So I see no problem here. It doesn't matter who starts.

You just knew that when the schedule lightened up and we got to play some cream puffs who don't play defense that people would jump up and down and scream "SEE".....

Lowry played well last night, one game after getting lit up and stinking it up against Chicago.....

He has improved, but so has the schedule.....if he is consistent against everyone, including the good teams, then he might take that starting spot.

I think when Brooks is back Rick will have to bring AB off the bench for a few games.....so you never know.....

Brooks is still better, he would be killing these crappy teams too....

Why do I have to pick 1? This is dumb, we have the perfect 1-2 combo PG in our rotation, no need to let one go, keep both and shut up!
