Well, I have recently been getting into Scotch Whiskey, and more recently into ones with a pretty heavy Peat taste. Lagavulin 16 year is my current favorite, though I don't have a lot of experience. Link to Lagavulin review Are there any other Scotch drinkers, and if so, what others do you recommend? DD
I always keep a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood in my house. Very smooth and a good value at around $40/bottle.
How is the flavor? Drinking Lagavulin is like licking a piece of burned wood from a campfire, which is honestly damned good. A couple of fingers in a glass on ice sets a nice easy course for the evening.....had one tonight and feel great..... DD
Honey is the strongest flavor, but you can also taste a hint of vanilla. It's got a little bit of smoke on the finish, but not overwhelming.
Wow, that sounds great. Lagavulin is very very smokey, which is surprisingly tasty, I will give yours a shot too. DD
Glenmorangie Lasanta was my first single malt. Many bottles of scotch later, its still my favorite. There something about that first time
all I drink is scotch. mostly glenfiddich. but I'll drink chivas or glenlevit if no glenfiddich is available.
glenlevit or glenfiddich have tried johnny walker black and chivas before Johnny Walker Black was pretty smokey so DD you might want to try that.
I stick to the standard aged single malts. Glenfiddich and MacAllan are definitely my favorites. I've had many others that I liked, and only one that I didn't. Laphroaig is pretty awful. I bought the Balvenie Doublewood that Harrisment about a month ago on the recommendation of the liquor shop owner, and it's definitely an interesting one with a nice sweetness.

The hangout is becoming redundant. The obligatory alcohol, 80's nostalgia, and food threads are getting old.
DD might want to try it though if he is into the peat flavor. this scotch is loaded with it. it's not the most refined but i kinda like it because of that. i'm working on a bottle of oban 14 currently.
