My fiancee and I are looking to buy/rescue a French Bulldog. Where's the best place (internet/local) to buy or adopt one? We really prefer a puppy

    If I may ask....

    1) Why a French Bulldog

    2) Why a puppy?

    Of course you may ask...

    1) Just moved into a new house. It's pretty empty and could use a companion. French Bulldog is small, good family dog, does not require extensive exercise, short haired, and it's cute

    2) French Bulldogs are pretty hard to train as is. By getting a puppy, we'd have a better chance of training it successfully.

Dude, have you ever met a French Bulldog? They are AWESOME dogs. Very friendly, loyal, loving. And so ugly-cute! They do require a bit of upkeep (gotta keep the facial folds clean), but they are really, really great companions. If we weren't maxed out on pets, we would have a French Bulldog right now.

Having said that, we would NOT get a dog from a breeder. It's only rescue for us. There are so many animals out there looking for homes, I can't justify lining someone's pockets so that they can intentionally increase the pet population. So, to the OP: by all means, try to rescue a Frenchie ( http://www.frenchbulldogrescue.org or http://www.adoptapet.com ), but you'll have a hard time finding a French Bulldog puppy without going to a breeder. You're conscience will have to be your guide.

Don't they have trouble in hot climates?

Yes, they are particularly prone to heat exhaustion, but if you keep the dog indoors primarily (which should be relatively easy with a dog the size of a French Bulldog) and hydrated, it should be no problem.

Friend of mine has one he is looking for a home for. I think he is anyways, he could be too attached by now. Its young, still has puppy teeth, etc... Ill see what he says if you are willing to pay about $150 for it. Honestly I couldn't think of a more amazing coincidence. Everybody wins. This thing has all the shots and what not too. It wears a dog collar that costs more than my watch and I believe also comes with an authentic Louis Vuitton dog carrier. Sigh, sad world.

Sounds good. If he is still looking for a home for it, I'd be interested in more details. You can either email me through the board or reply in this thread. That collar probably costs more than my watch, too. I got mine from the Timex spinning rack from Target though. Thanks for the heads up!

I believe French Bulldogs are actually from England

Best case scenario is we find a puppy to rescue. Long shot, very long shot. But we're going to try to look everywhere. I'll check out those sites and show my fiancee as well. Thanks for the help

If your looking to buy one i would suggest this site

    Le Bone Pet Shop

and click on the Non-Sporting category and they have 7 French Bulldog puppies currently available!

My fiancé and I bought her a Tea Cup Poodle from them and they were great. They are a pet shop in pearland that has alot of reputable breeders that they work with.

    Good Luck
