What part of brooks being the better player you don't understand. Adelman loves his guards to play off the ball and be a scorer. Go look at bibby and porter form his previous stops. His offense is the pg and brooks needs to get better in his decision making, but go and look how he played when martin got here vs having shane, ariza, and chuck all starting. Brooks is the best player on the team right now, not just the best guard.
fair enough. And I'm comforted by the fact that apparently Kyle's is only a 3 year deal. still, it's a little more than i anticipated at the end of the season.
When have you seen martin really show up in the 4th qt? I've watched the guy when he was in sac-town and he just didn't do it. Is he a effecient scorer? Yes, but so is yao and we've seen him disappear in the 4th because of the other teams aggressivenes and his lack of mobility. You can give brooks the ball and don't even have to set a pick and he can get a good shot. Once he really stats to shoot that pull up from the free throw line, he's the closer. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OxFxVSRIXPM&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OxFxVSRIXPM&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tos_PvTNhlY&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tos_PvTNhlY&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uSwCrZYw9Zk&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uSwCrZYw9Zk&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I've got some clutch plays by Ariza as well. you don't see me crying about him being possibly traded. Brooks is a great asset and I because of Yao's return he will take a big hit to his PPG. The writing is on the wall for AB.
I completely agree and this argument gets lost in voluminous threads where posters get trashed for saying it. I love AB, but he's not the best player on this team, he has never shown chemistry with Yao, and defensively there's just not much he can do. People rightly point out that Martin's defensively as bad, but never seem to remember Morey has said he's a top 5 player in terms of however he grades "efficiency". And Morey is absolutely in love with Kyle's efficiency. Factor in AB's going to be making about $10 mil a year in 2011-2012, who seems to be the odd man out amongst the 3 guards? I don't believe anything will happen until the trade deadline, but do I believe a team would add AB for a shot at a ring? Absolutely. I don't understand why this is such a radical concept.
This thread is about the Rockets matching the Cavs' offer for Lowry (yes!), not really about Brooks vs. Martin.
When the game was on the line in the playoffs, it was bibby making shots off pick and roll. What doe that have to do with what we were talking about?
What does anything you posted, including Youtube clips of Brooks, have to do with what this thread is about?
Lowry got paid because he's restricted, not because he's worth it. I'm sure the cavs tried to work a SnT deal for a lower amount. They tried to get the rockets not to match. At this price, I'm sure Morey had to think about it. Lowry isn't a starter. I've been a fan of his since his Villanova days, but he has not improved his game. He and Westbrook used to be very similar, but now Westbrook has blown up. Kyle hasn't.
I will trade anyone on the roster and have said so many times, but i dont agree with his effectiveness taking a big hit. I mean we're talking about yao playing 25 mins a night. Even then, the focus is no longer going to be down down and stand around. Yao is at the point along with the injuries in which he will be more play finisher than play starter. He will get more shots at the elbow and offset shoeblocks than at any point ever in his career. Does the match mean brooks is gone? Not really, but i will tell you this, if they don't trade him this year by the trade deadline and he becomes restricted, he will be playing for the kings next season. Its no secret and they will have cap money especially with pretty much everyone on rookie deals. Unlike the cavs being short and cheap, the kings will offer brooks about 9m per out the gate. Good thing is, they have been a good trade partner.
I think you're missing Leebigez's point. Martin is a great scorer but he normally doesn't produce at the end of the games. If you watch his games, he always does his damage in the first and third quarter. For a team to win and especially in the playoffs, you need someone that can score. You have to remember... Those calls that KM gets aren't going to fly in the playoffs. The Refs aren't going to call those calls that he normally gets. As for Ab... I love his game but I'm not as high on him as others on the board. He's a scoring guard but he does hurt the team on the defensive end.
Observation: as it stands, 6 people have voted on this news. Five voted 5-star while one gave a 1-star, assuming people either love or hate it. Wondering who that lone 1-star voter is
well westbrook also has got the bulk of the minutes tat starter. Lowry has not had that opportunity yet. Really, given their minutes per game, their stats are very similar.
I'm kinda old school. I havent started a new thread in awhile. I was responding to the poster talking about trading brooks or maybe it was yo-yo talking about how lowry's game fit better. It took off when i brought out about brooks being the closer. The other guy starts talking about martin and lowry being closers because they can get to the free throw line. I you-tubed brooks finishing off games. I could've done the same for martin excepts there were none
What I like best is how quickly it was matched. No drama, and sends a message to the other teams, "don't even think about touching our guys"
