Seems to me that most of the newer bands are all about that Death Metal screaming roaring over singing. I'm not into that. I like high beat-per-minute music, and Metal and Electro fit the bill.

I got some good advice in my Electronica thread.

Now I'm looking for some heavy git-tar based music. As I said above, I don't like the pure screaming, ala most of Slipknot.

No metalheads on the BBS? Surprising.

There is no good modern metal IMHO.

I'll stick with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath.

Been meaning to check out Volbeat.

Definitely more hard rock, not so much metal - Danko Jones.

Thanks for the feedback. Reps all around.

Sometimes when you look for something new, you rediscover old stuff that you can appreciate with a more developed palate, so I appreciate the 'stick with the old stuff' comments.

    Keep 'em coming.

I used to be pretty big on the metal scene, lately I'm more of an indie queer.

B4MV and Trivium are pretty good. I like In Flames more. Between the Buried and Me is my favorite "metal" band. They are crazy good. More Prog than anything really though.

Slipknot doesn't "scream". They yell, and they mostly suck. Drumming is ok, lyrics awful. Guitar work decent but uninspired, mostly fast for the sake of fast. Lamb of God is a better band if you like that kind of metal.

There is screaming, there is yelling, and there is death growling, grunting, etc. Opeth tends to be a little more on the death growl side, very melodic and peaceful in between though. Death Growling is more popular in some of those Scandinavian metal bands. Children of Bodom is fun.

You might be like Shadows Fall or some of Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil, if you want a little less "in your face" vocals, but still some some pretty rocking metal.

Check out some Grindcore... The Number Twelve Looks Like You... The JonBenet. Theres some screaming.

Haven't seen a good new metal band in a long while, so Pantera, Tool and Gwar, along with some other old favorites, still make the rounds in my louder and faster mixes.

Most Metal bands these days do scream. Listen to The Black Dahlia Murder, Between the Buried and Me, The number 12 looks like you and definitely The Jonbenet. Upon a Burning Body is decent as well. I dont really listen to metal much so there may be some new better bands.

The Jonbenet is an old local band who was/is the **** so finding their stuff may be tougher but if you REALLY want their cd, I can send you a copy online.

I second Mastodon, especially their latest effort "Crack the Skye"

I also throw a vote in for Comes With the Fall, William DuVall's (Alice in Chains) other band. Really bare bones, lofi hard rock.

damn, how can i forget. don't know if you were ever familiar with Blaze Bayley who was Iron Maiden's vocalist for a couple of albums during Bruce's hiatus from the band but he's put out awesome albums ever since IM kicked him out.

Blaze's last two albums, The Man who would not Die and Promise and Terror are heavy. there's no screaming, and his voice is awesome for his style. These are two of my favorite songs.

this is Smile Back at Deth on The man who would not Die. It's about the movie Gladiator:

God of Speed from Promise and Terror

Since we're 'sticking with the old stuff', I've recently listened to a bunch of Anthrax, with John Bush on vocals. Real quality stuff IMO.

    Sound of White Noise
    Stomp 442
Volume 8: The Threat is Real
    We've Come For You All
