Sorry to hear that basso, especially since you are a musician, if I remember correctly. I hope all will be good.
I was sent this video the other night and thought about posting it, but thought the thread would get jacked by the usual numbnuts. The smile on that kid's face was awesome to watch, especially when he heard sounds apparently for the first time. From what I recall, the video is 1.5-2 years old, so I can't believe it wasn't popular before now. I think a video of the kid a few months later after an operation on his other ear is also on youtube. Not as much reaction in that one from the kid.
yeah, his smile just slayed me, and his mom is so lovely when she sees his face light up, i didn't really dig much deeper to be clear, my own issues started when i was about a year old, and the last round of operations was early '90s. one ear is (more or less) ok. Cochlear implant is one option for the other, but it's a big operation, and not sure i want to go there. if i could find an esthetically inoffensive bone-conduction solution, i'd probably do that. typical through-the-canal hearing aids will not work for me (problem is conductive, in the middle ear).
Really awesome. I hope they video tape, the first time the kid listens to the new Wolf Parade album. I'm afraid his head might explode though.
This video is amazing. That kid's face lighting up is a glimpse of one of the most beautiful things on Earth.
Wow, that seriously gave me goose bumps of happy. The look on that kids face was absolutely beautiful!
I read in Popular Science of an implant that transmits sound from your teeth. It's cheaper and less invasive than traditional surgery. Should come out in the next 5 years.
I always think about this video as being one of the coolest videos I've seen on YouTube. The little fella's five years old now and doing ok apparently. And he chases girls around the schoolyard, so he's a peewee pimp, too. Sweet. On a side note, apparently the family lives in Houston. ------------------------------------------------ http://todayhealth.today.com/_news/...hlear-implant-video-is-5-now-doing-great?lite
