Does driving a BMW automatically make you a douche?

Seriously, dude. You paid for that car with your own money and you like your car, who cares? Even if people bat an eye at you. Take it as compliment, it means you got a really nice car.

i dont get it..anyone who buys a 30-45K car is a douche now? not everyone wants to drive an altima or camry. if you feel like you make enough money to afford one then i dont see whats the problem.

doucheness comes from peoples behaviors rather than a certain type of car they drive.

Oh, you mean the car that has an interior made of crappy plastic? Sorry, but part of "luxury" is having a nice, well made interior and Pontiac definitely comes no where near having the same "quality" as BMW.

Edmunds did a comparison of this car to an M3.

The M3 was faster in 0-60 and the quarter mile.
The M3 had a braking rating of "Excellent" and the G8 GXP was "very good".
The M3 had a handling rating of "Excellent" and the G8 GXP was "average".

Pontiac just made a muscle car here and not much else...I'd always prefer driving a nice looking, good handling car that has a luxurious interior compared to a car that is fast but is made of cheap parts.

Also, Pontiac no longer exists, so BMW wins.

You cant go wrong with driving German.

 

Unless you're on the autobahn, who cares about handling. Most people with a sports sedan want to be able to go fast in spurts and pick the kids up at the same time.

 

Okay, I'll give you that if we only drove on the autobahn, the Pontiac is the superior choice compared to a 3 series BMW. (although, the M3 is faster than the G8 in every way).

Edit: Just reread what you wrote...i misunderstood...but now Im more confused...what do you mean who cares about handling? Last I noticed, streets curve and turn and highway driving includes weaving in and out of lanes to pass cars...the autobahn has plenty of straight roads meant for flying.

 

I'm in the live and let live crowd. If driving an expensive car makes you happy, rock on.

 

Volvo's are much more comfy

 

If you are actively looking for girls to bang, a BMW might be a good investment.

If you are tired of chasing and have vag at the house, might not be.

Crappy plastic my ass. If I *really* cared about this argument(which I dont, just jabbing the cage of pretentiousness that is BMW drivers) I would point out that the G8 is actually made by Holden out of Australia and is not subject to your normal ease of abuse that most domestics are subject to.

Not to mention you entry level luxury cars usually cut back on the engine and the interior materials. The lower price tag has to come at some cost.

Like I mentioned before, if it makes you happy, so be it. To me, buy things in your life that you enjoy and you care about.

You are a douche if you buy things b/c you care what other people will think. Like timepieces, houses, etc., cars can be a reward to yourself for a sense of accomplishment. If you care about these things as a status symbol, then you are wasting your money whether it be 30K or 300K.
