Well, calling me a terrorist is so outlandish that I can just ignore it, knowing the source. It's like Osama Bin Laden calling any random US citizen a terrorist.
Certainly there has been Islamic terrorism. But only a tiny tiny percent of terrorism overall has been carried out by Islamic Extremists, or Muslims. And now the winner that shows that in Europe less than 1% of terrorist attacks are Islamic terrorism. So ATW, you can be rational and realize that by the stats Muslims are not the leading population in carrying out terrorist attacks and hopefully adjust your misguided antipathy or you can continue down your irrational path. The facts are there. It's up to you whether you actually look at them or not.
I know that you have been spouting these non-sensical stats forever. I have no idea what they count as a terrorist attack in these stats and have to run now. Then tell me the 10 largest terror attacks in the world in the last 10 years by number of casualties. Then tell me how many of those were committed in the name of Islam and how many not. Then you cannot hide behind these stats. Is there a bigger terrorist attack than 9/11, Madrid, London, etc., that was NOT committed in the name of Islam in the last 10 years?
Look at the quote about just the year 2006. The only fatality from terrorism came Basques... Not Muslims. Because the Muslim groups are more successful in their terrorism doesn't mean more Muslims are terrorists. You can call the stats nonsensical if you want. But that doesn't change the fact that they are FACTS, and in weighing evidence reasonable people use FACTS to form their opinions. You choose to dismiss FACTS and focus on sensationalism, stereotyping, and bigotry instead. You are allowed to do that, but still doesn't change the FACTS.
Why does it make you uncomfortable? And how does what THEY do impose upon you? Maybe not praying at a meal is imposing your own belief on them in public. Did you ever think how that person might feel?
Free country. You have the right to pray where you want unless where you are praying puts others at risk (i.e the middle of the road) If you don't like it, exercise your right to go elsewhere.
You're right I don't think you are a terrorist and you have given me no reason to believe so. That aside this is the second time you've brought up the idea that my position is simply to curry favor with other posters. Seriously do you really think that way? I disagree with you at times but in general have found you a decent poster but lately you seem to be taking a turn towards the juvenile. I understand this is a heated issue but you can make your argument better than this.
At the sametime I will point out that Around the World and others have their right to not like it and state so but that's part of living in a plural society.
The reason why I think that is that you seem too intelligent and educated and moderate from your posts (and I have read a lot of them) to not recognize how outrageous some of the posts of Mathloom et al. are, yet you decide to focus on arguing with me. It seems like the easier choice, as Donny, partly DaDa and I seem to single-handedly engage an army of offended Muslim posters, other offended posters with strong religious convictions and an army of left-wing posters who naturally take sides against me on any topic no matter how outrageous the position of the person I am arguing with is (Mathloom), which is funny. You are smarter than that, and I think part of the reason you argue how you argue is because you want to be popular and, to some extent, you like to be the advocatus diaboli. You will of course deny this and I will never be able to prove it, but it's just the only explanation I can see.
Not generally, it depends on the circumstances - and "having a problem" means "it makes me feel uncomfortable", not that I would ask for it not to happen or for government to intervene or anything. I am merely talking about how it makes me feel - because as I posted before, the more pronounced the outward expression of someone's religion, the stronger my hunch that they might be intolerant of others' religious views. The bearded men comment was made in jest. I knew it would get a rise out of people, but hey, it's the D&D .
Really? Talk about self-aggrandizement here you actually see yourself and others as taking the tough unpopular stand against the dangers of religious fanatics while wishy washy liberals just tacitly support them to get be popular. That is how you see things? For one in case you have missed it I and those other wishy washy liberals have criticized Mathloom and other posters several times over their attitude in regard to the Danish Cartoonists. In fact just today I told him I find his continuing attitude disturbing. Two, besides just the Danish Cartoonist I've disagreed with Mathloom several times, I told him that I might think religion has been an overall bad for humanity before. Hardly the type of statement one would make to curry favor. Finally three, is this highschool? Who cares who likes who or who is popular. This is an online message board and its unlikely most of us are ever going to meet in real life. Popularity here is worth less than winning the Ewok costume contest at a Star Wars convention. I try to be respectful to everyone's views, be open minded and look at both sides of an issue if you consider that trying to be popular then so be it. That hasn't stopped me from pissing off both the most conservative and the most liberal posters, just ask Glynch who seems to have it out for me.
believe me, its out of intent of disrespect. Thats how stupid your thread is. Its an insult to modern intellect. This isn't 1940s germany or something, we have transcended such petty thought. You should feel ashamed for thinking the way you do, and I know it comes out a bit harsh but its true.
This... does not bother me. This on the other hand... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hqLvV21tsdw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hqLvV21tsdw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> is extremely offensive to me... This dimwit girl and I are supposedly the same religion. Thanks for nothing, idiot.
Your level of disdain for it certainly implies that you want them to stop. If you didn't, you would not waste bandwidth telling us all how much you dislike it. It is called reading between the lines...you should try it sometime. No...trust me...I get it. You are a hateful bigot and a small minded individual who gets his jollies out of spewing hate on a basketball BBS. You are a very sad person. I don't have to convince people on the merits of not being a bigot. The "same insult" is pretty much the logical conclusion of this thread. Even Major, one of the most level headed posters here quoted it in your other "I hate Muslims" thread. Seems like I convinced at least one smart person on the merits. I hate bigotry. It is really that simple.
You are assuming and inferring way too much. You know absolutely nothing about me as a person. That you choose to stoop down to such strongly worded and uncalled for personal insults says more about you and your defensive insecurity about your relationship to your religion than it does about me. There is more hate in this single post of yours here than in any of mine. Major is not one of the most level-headed posters. He has a long history of losing heated arguments to people whose posts indicate that he cannot keep up with them intellectually like Trader_Jorge or bigtexxx. He remembered whose side I was more often on in these arguments and was looking for a chance to get back. Petty, not level-headed. You hate what you inferred into my posts, not what I actually said. And again, there is a surprising level of hate and vitriol in your post, which is sad for a self-professed devout Christian. I was raised Catholic and I know all too well that that is not what we were taught.
If you read through the threads you have started you'll see that Refman isn't the first person to make this claim about you.
