I think the Haven mixup was probably the only thing you guys had to disagree about and I figure it's all fixed up now, but if it helps, I agree with everything HP said and everything FB said.

And now I am off to the hangout forum, at my friend FranchiseBlade's request...

Does anybody remember all the problems with The Dream faking that injury before his contract extension right before the rockets won their championships? Well guess what, it is contract extension time for Steve and he is just making using this time as his soapbox to voice some personal opinions before he is under long term contract again and the org won't give a crap what he says. All superstars do this before their extensions - Malone in Utah, lewis is trying it in Seattle right now but seattle doesn't give a crap because lewis isn't a superstar, Jordan and the Jerrys used to jibe at each other and the list goes on and on.

It is a superstar contract extension phenomenon.

And don't forget how when Kobe first came to the lakers that Shaq had a hard time adjusting to the emergence of another superstar on his team. They hated each other for a couple of years and now they call each other big bro little bro. Steve has to be feeling threatened by all the publicity that Ming is getting even if he won't admit it. He is thinking to himself "man I have gone to war with these guys for the last three years and now this guy comes in that no one knows anything about and every one wants to put him up on their shoulders and parade around downtown"

But for all you idiots who try to compare Steve and other players and figure out how good he is or to critique his defense or whatever the hell else you are doing - just stop because anyone who has ever seen Steve Francis play one game of NBA ball knows what kind of a bad mother Steve is. And for the guy who compared Steve to a lesser AI - that is one of the worst comparisons I have ever heard. First of all AI plays SG and Steve plays PG. If you have ever seen AI bring the ball up the court - one of the most important jobs of a PG - you will see why the 76's said we can't play AI at the 1 in the pro's. Steve has such amazing handles and doesn't get easily pressured - the kind of things that don't show up on the stat sheet. Anyone in the NBA will tell you Steve is one of the best at bringing the ball up the court. And as far as rebounding point gaurds go you will not find a better one.

Do you specialize in chopping logic? Tsk tsk.

Who is the 2nd best player on the team? How many games did he play in? How many games did Francis play, that Mobley did not?

Without Mobley, could Francis have gone 26-31? I really, really, really doubt it. I believe Francis is better than Mobley, but not by much.

Yet you refuse to even acknowledge such an obvious truth, whether beacuse it interferes with your wishes, or you just want to win a bbs argument.

Come back when you're interested in real discussion.

Why are so many people bringing up Francis' off the court behavior as something abnormal for an NBA star? There are very few all-star players that won't complain when their team does bad and it was no thanks to them. You see this stuff all the time on TV or in papers, and people make a big deal about it each time. Garnett? Kobe/Shaq? (once upon a time) Barkley? And MANY mooore, on channel fooour, Watch all-stars whiiine, on channel niiine... Also, there are NO great players that aren't cocky at one point or another, and I never gave a crap. When you're a leader in the NBA, you have bragging rights, even if your team (temporarily in this case) sucks. Cut the man some slack, this is the personality of an NBA badass. Plus, he's probably just lookin for some more dough.

Well I don't know why I keep taking part in this thread because very soon the point will be moot. Champions, 2005...

BTW, I didn't even read a single post in this thread. Just the title. And based on that, I still say "Shut up."

22 years later and this is delightfully ironic.
