I don't think so. This is more about next season with Yao in the lineup. Even yesterday when three guys had 30+, Rockets only won by 5 becuae defense became worse by each quarter. Ab/Martin backcourt with Scola just won't be a good defensive lineup for 48 minutes.

Well we agree on that part, but that gets solved by having better bigs guarding the basket.

Thank GOD there are 5 players on the court and it is a TEAM defense....

aside from brooks elite shooting(#1 in 3s made this season), he is also lightyears ahead of lowry in his ability to breakdown his man one on one in a halfcourt offense. lowry can bull his way in on a fastbreak all day but in a halfcourt iso play, lowrys crossover isnt half as good as brooks and his stepback is pointless cus he cant shoot. offensively lowry is way below brooks standards. lowry is jameer nelson without the jumper...

You need good defensive players to play great team defense. One big can't solve all the problems. 3 weak defenders won't make a great defensive team, just like 3 weak offensive players won't make a great offensive team. Let's wait and see next season.

That is the reason for bench players to come in and change the pace a little, as well as give our starters rest. Ultimately, despite being a better passer, Brooks is able to create from anywhere on the floor, which is something you will need to spread the floor because Lowry isn't anywhere near the Nash, Paul and other great passing PGs that his fans try to pump him out to be, that will get 10+ assist per night.

Adelman is too high on Brooks to remove him from the starting lineup anytime soon. While I would like to see what Lowry can do as a starter, though Lowry is younger I think Adelman and the staff believes Brooks can still get better.

As good as Lowry is, 40% shooting from the field isnt going to position himself as a starter. (I know, Jason Kidd. Still its for THIS team) If he continued at last years's 47% shooting with the Rockets, then we'd possibly have a PG controversy.

Not 48 minutes, but the majority of the time when those 3 play together, Rockets will have defensive problems. Of course if the offense gain is bigger than the loss of defense, that would be OK. But I don't see that's the case. With Yao/Scola/Martin in the lineup, the offense gain by Brooks over Lowry will not be nearly as much as this year because the offensive possessions are limited, defense might just suffer more.

I stand by both of those, I don't think AB has ELITE level court vision but he has pretty good court vision.

A little better than Tony Parker's IMO.

Steve Francis had much worse court vision than either of them, IMO.

Again, you can pick and choose lots of posts and lots of context to attempt to make a point, but you really need to include links, to verify context.

But feel free to search for that needle in a haystack....it is snowing in New York, right?

    You got some time.

40% shooting is not the reason. AB only shot 42%. and Lowry's career FG% is better than AB.

Three point shooting is why a lot fans think AB is better than Lowry. On the days AB makes his shots, I agree. But on the days AB can't hit his shots, Lowry is a lot better than AB. And it's exactly what happened in many games this year.

Fot this year, their TS% is on the same level because Lowry draws a lot fouls in the paint. Since Lowry has an upper hand in almost everything else, it's not a surprise that his impact is way bigger than AB's.

Thanks. I think the only time I ever agreed with you was when you won the bet with SamFisher on Boki's scoring production. j/k

I like both of them too. But if I were to trade one of them for a bigger fish, I'd rather trade Brooks than Lowry, simply because Brooks is likely overvalued while Lowry is likely undervalued by other GMs. In other words, we would likely keep more of other assets if we trade Brooks rather than Lowry.

Like I said in an earlier post, Brooks' play making is acceptable under Adelman's offense. My main concern with a Brooks-Martin back court is defense. That could be an important factor. We'll see how it goes when they have played more together.

I do think Ariza's injury might be a good chance for the coach to see how starting Battier with Brooks and Martin looks. I don't think Adelman would have started Battier had Ariza been healthy. I believe Battier is better for covering the back court's defensive weaknesses.

Are you truly equating Conroy to Lowry??? Conroy is perennial D-League player. The annecdotal evidence was that Lowry was coveted by some teams just before the trading deadline, including rumors that Philly would have given us Buttler and Haywood IF Lowry had been a part of the McGrady trade.

Besides, look at our bench. Once, one of the most productive in the league, not barely NBA caliber. Lowry IS the bench.

With all due respect, you have had very good posts, but the Lowry comment is not one of them.

AB has started for 1 season in the NBA, and in reality only played 2 full seasons. Instead of looking at the mean, i would tender to the overall progression of his learning curve. He will only get better my friend.

You may be correct that Brooks is a better playmaker than Francis ever was, but Brooks probably needs to be reminded to pass the ball and set up his teammates. I think Brooks natural's proclivitities is to find a way to shoot the damn ball himsellf, as opposed to finding ways for his teammates to score.

The above explains the Brooks' Jekyll and Hyde performances of 10 assists and 1 assists games.

Everytime we have a discussion about brooks, the yao ming mania riders pulls his name out their ass. I dont give a flying you know what about whether anyone can or cant play with yao. The rockets will be as dumb as the same posters who continue to think selfishly about yao vs the rockets in general.

Give it up! The days of yao being the focal point are over and failed. He's as reliable as a 88 Hyundai Sonata at this point. I dont have to name the same lame posters who want the rockets to base their future success on a guy who can be deemed useless by 6'8 players.

Brooks and Martin will work great together with or without yao. The team has struggles because of 2 zeroes starting and no one to protect the rim. I admitted this summer yao clogging the paint helps the defense bigtime, but it also works against the rockets with pnr situations and clogging on offense. When adelman started having yao in the high post to open the lane, alot of the yof were crying like little girls. Now that adelmans had an entire yr without yao and knowing he might only be good for 20-25mins a night, where do yall think yao will spend time on the court? I know i'm wasting keystrokes, but its the sos.

Brooks has the potential to become a superstar-type player. Lowry does not, because he is not a good shooter.

And in any case, who says we have to trade one of them? Let's keep them both.
