Could be because I'm asian but why not? If the Rockets don't trade tmac for a starting SG we'll need to draft one. Could possibly be a low risk high reward. 6'3" High IQ SG but basically runs the majority of Harvard's offense. 17ppg 4.8assists 1.3bpg 2.9steals fg 51% 3pt 31.6%(last year 40% so that can improve) Harvard 09-10 so far 13-3 <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QQ2mng5e95w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QQ2mng5e95w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Some good articles if you're bored. Jeremy Lin Movement The Lives of Others
No. Maybe in free agency you check him out, but there are tons of other players in his position that are faster, stronger, more athletic, and possibly smarter. Just because you go to Harvard doesn't mean you have high basketball IQ. He probably has average bball IQ
This guy was California's player of the year his senior year in high school. Not too shabby. Lots of analysts are also saying that Harvard can get into the NCAA tourney with an at-large bid this year.
The dude couldn't land a single D1 scholarship offer. Kind of like steve nash except nash did get one right were Lin came from.
They are saying that the conference is likely to get two teams in... Cornell is playing some good bball too.
Jeremy Lin is definitely an intriguing prospect. He isn't the strongest, fastest, or most athletic, but he still gets it done, despite a poor supporting cast. His numbers are inflated because of the poor team that he is on, but if you actually watch games of him play, he is the sole reason why Harvard is in contention to make the NCAA tournament. If you put him on a talented team, he will still find ways to contribute positively. In a sense, watching him play, he reminds me a lot of our own Chase Budinger. Not in terms of shooting, because Chase wins hands down, but in terms of playing disciplined, controlled, high bball IQ, being NBA ready, he is very similar. Jeremy is a much better playmaker and ball handler than Chase, but seeing his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and to his favorite spots is a tell-tale sign of his pro-ready game. The biggest knock on him that could make him undrafted is that he is a tweener. He has great size at the PG position, but I feel that he won't be quick enough for NBA standards. And he isn't a sharpshooter like a Ben Gordon to thrive at the SG position either. But, if he does get a chance in the NBA, I do feel like he will be a rotation player because his game is translatable to the NBA. Precedent tells us that the players that aren't the most flashiest, the strongest, or the fastest, but understands the way the game is meant to be played, will find a way into the NBA and will do well. Our whole Rockets squad is full of players like this.
He's been getting a lot of respect in the NCAA's lately, but it takes much more than that to make it in the NBA. Can anybody tell me who the last Ivy league player of the year to start on an NBA team was? Hint: the answer is extremely unpleasant.
I think the Cornell basketball team has a bigger frontline than the Houston Rockets. I agree, Jeremy Lin is the black Chase Budinger.
yea cornell has a solid team, I've seen them play live a few times. They have Coach wittman's son ryan who is a high volume sharp shooter, and Jeff Foote a 7 footer who has his games as well. They almost beat no 1 Kansas and although harvard got a lot of hype to take over the ivy after cornell has won it two years in a row, Cornell blew them out at home, next game is on the 19th at harvard should be fun, it looks like only Cornell will get the bid and they might be able to pull an upset if their shots are falling that night
That's entirely possible... the only player I know on their team is the Coury Flurry - Mark Coury. He played for UK and transferred after the BCG debacle.
Thanks for the video. I have read about Lin but never have seen him play, different than my assumptions about him. I pictured him as not as good an athlete as he is but with a picture perfect jump shot but he's just the opposite. Awful looking mechanics on his J but he's a damn good athlete, quick enough and athletic enough to play at a pro level. Don't know about the NBA though, he's small for a SG and there are a ton of guys who are bigger, stronger and more athletic playing the position.
I think we've entered a strange and bizzare world where the ivy league might get as many teams in the tournament as the pac-10
