Well, to be fair to the write, we do usually win when Brooks plays like a superstar. The problem with him is that he is only good when his shooting is hot. And he definitely should take a lion share of the credit when he does. But if he is not scoring well, he's not that great a PG. Definitely not the 3rd best in the league.
Dang it, I was gonna post a "Brooks love" thread....... He is the leader of this team, he is the best player, and he is only getting better. DD
Lowry is a backup on almost any team in the league while Brooks is a starter.... Lowry is a NICE off the bench energy guy, but he would be uber fail as a starter because he just can't shoot the ball. We Rocket fans have had enough of PG's that can't shoot.....Lowry is what he is....a good solid backup PG....period. DD
All of you hating on Ariza: I'm sure the original author of the article looks at stats specifically, like pts/game, etc. and not the makes/attempts.
I second this^^ Give the boy some credit. He's lighting quick and his size makes him drive easily through a crowded lane and create absolute havoc against defenses opening up others. His shot and shot selection is improving and he is not scared to create or shoot when the game is on the line. Bravo Brooks. Keep up the good work
whoa DA makes the rookie team but Chase doesnt? I know Chase is injured right now but he has played enough games this season to show that he is a huge part of the bench and its success. Casspi i believed has just come on strong of late for the kings.
AB is making 1 million this year & will be making 2 next. For that money, the guy is doing a good job. Some of you judge the guy too damn hard. The Fakers would take Brooks in a heart beat. Every player is going to have there flaws. He is only going to get better, Some people just need to listen twice as much as they talk.
First, let's give some credit for brooks, the guy was giving his heart through those winning games stretch, IMO the guy deserve it a %100, hell I think he should be #2 when ur on a team full of role players and leading your team in assist, and shooting nearly %46 from the field, yes he should be # 2 Second, as i was reading through the replies, I was amazed by the comments, I haven't seen one single positive comment about this thread....people need to start to give the guy some credit.....
I say we trade Brooks and Andersen to Portland for Brandon Roy. 3rd Best PG + All-Rookie Center = 3rd Best SG Portland gets more back than they give.
Wow, surprised at the negativity towards Brooks when he gets a few accolades from an outside source. I mean, its not like he has been lobbying for it. He didn't go up to the writer, slip him a few hundered bucks and say "put me in there at third team or honorable mention." I sense something. A presence I've not felt since.......
I love Brooks but this is crazy. NBA 1st team - 3rd team isn't an MVP race, it's about who's the better player. Not the most valuable to their team. And man, does anyone think that DRon wouldn't flourish in our system?
Well its a nice thought but completely unfounded. I'm not of the opinion the PG play is directly proportional to the team's overall winning percentage. Conversely, if you plug in Chris Paul or Deron Williams on this team in place of Aaron Brooks I'm fairly confident the team would perform slightly better. This is no slight on Aaron at all, I was one of the few people who was high on him when he was drafted and I still don't think he's completely reached his potential as a scorer, his quickness is at another level. He is truly a very good player and has proved the doubters that said he would never start in this league wrong. Ariza on the other hand has been so bad offensively. I want to like him but right now he's wearing out his welcome quickly. Its even worse than Artest when he tries to dribble drive.
You just can't stand the truth. What else does Brooks do very well besides penetrating and scoring when he's hot? His defense is average at best due to his size and strength, his rebounds, steal, Ast/TO ratio are all below par among PGs. On a good day, he scores in bunches to offset his shortcoming and looks like a 2nd tier PG, on a bad day he looks just terrible out there, 4th tier is being nice to him. There were so many games Lowry came in to push the tempo, do all the little things to change the momentum, per 48 minutes, Lowry has a +/- of 10.7 to AB's - 4.6 until 12/26. Saying he is on the same level as Brooks is not much of a stretch. That being said, Brooks has improved a lot at distributing the ball than last year, I give him props for that.
