I'm using my digital camera to record and ask him questions at the same time. Yeah that's me asking Drexler what all Clutchfans want to know. Later on I tell Clyde "Sorry about the tough question, but I think if we had the 94 Clyde we'd win the Finals" Clyde tells me "if the Rockets had drafted me we would have won 8 titles!" Also asked him "Would Dream destroy the league now?" Clyde looked at me like I was an idiot "he destroyed the league back then, of course!" Then.. I said "I still think you are better than Tracy McGrady" Clyde Smiles.
That's pretty cool, and Clyde sounds a lot more articulate when he's just speaking off the cuff then when he's broadcasting.
Awesome tinman. You didn't have to put Clyde on the spot like that thought! What was he supposed to say?
i would agree that he is b/c he has achieved more team success. and he's also a more durable player than tracy has been in his career. but for a 5-6 year stretch, like clyde said, tracy was up there. b/c of his injuries and how he's playing now, it's easy to forget how feared he was just a few years ago. he was all-nba 1st team for 2 years along with kobe bryant.
This should be the goal of our members to produce evidence of the hard hitting questions the Houston media will not ask
Dude, Glide has heart, grit and fire. That's what makes him a champion while T-Mac isn't. In terms of talent T-Mac may be top ten in the NBA ever. But in terms of temperament he's not an alpha dog, he's much more suited to being Scottie Pippen than MJ. There is no way you can compare the overall Glide package to T-Mac. T-Mac is tragically, fatally flawed. If you get a choice between the two you take Glide, hands down.
dude i did say clyde is better (obviously he's more mature; i still think tracy would be a much better player if he had gone to college--along with less injuries of course). i'm just saying for a stretch in his career, tracy was regarded as a top 5 player by most of the coaches, GMs, players, and fans in this L. that's all i'm pointing out. don't need to get all riled up here.
I'm a big fan of clyde, and clyde did lead his team to 2 finals in the west, but his teams were dumb as a blonde. They shouldve beat the bulls and detroit, but dumb plays cost them. All in all good stuff tinman.
that's b/c he is not broadcasting by himself, its with Worrell. B/c of that he has to feed off of Bill's comments and compliment what he says while trying to build a rhythm or chemistry using humor and canned phrases to fill air time and what not. There may be a little bit of noob-fear, especially in the beginning b/c that is/was not his domain--yet.
That sounds like the denial and defense some people are using with Grady. Clyde was a great basketball player. He's a horrible commentator - likable but not good at it.
Interesting choice given what happened b4 clyde joined the rox: During the 2006 NBA Finals, Rolando Blackman's former coach with the New York Knicks, Pat Riley, admitted, publicly for the first time, that sitting Rolando Blackman in favor of John Starks during Games 6 and 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals was the biggest coaching mistake in his career and that he has never forgiven himself for it 1994 NBA Finals In Game 6, however, Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon blocked a last-second attempt at a game-winner by John Starks, giving the Rockets an 86-84 victory and forcing a Game 7. The Rockets beat the Knicks in Game 7, 90-84, enabling the city of Houston to celebrate its first NBA and fifth professional sports championship. It is also the first time a Houston team won a championship in a league that still exists. For his efforts Olajuwon was named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
Would you agree though that answering the question he's surprisingly articulate? More so than in his broadcasts? And you can tell he's taken off guard by the question.
