the problem with these "Sources" is that you don't know who is Pro-Hillary, Pro-Obama, or Biased.

where do you have a problem with the source I quoted. it seems like you just have a problem with being wrong. the source matches all other reports about overall numbers of the break down of voters according to race.

The problem with it, is that it tries to brng up racism in the election when everyone has seen Obama's main supporters are whites.

I wasn't quoting the source for its commentary, i quoted it for its numbers to prove my point.

I assume you meant black people carrying obama. I guess they carried him in states like iowa and nebraska.

I didn't know you had that authority. look dude, the onus is on you to find a source that backs up your point. I will stubbornly and stupidly answer every post you have to criticize mine until you do so

Polling shows his main support comes from blacks and well educated whites. We don't need to bring racism into the election, it's been there since day one. Why else do you believe there's never been a serious black candidate for President? Bad luck?

i'm not saying people are racist, i'm saying race plays a part. there are plenty of factors, i'm sure most people who vote against obama vote against him because of other reasons.

but as far as policy is concerned, there isn't much difference between obama and clinton so people are going to vote for who they are most comfortable with as a leader and there are plenty of factors that go into that.

tj, if you strongly believe that people vote for him solely for his race, why is it very hard for you to believe that people will NOT vote for him solely because of his race?

    Beat me to it.

I have the answer though. It's because in the face of all logic, TJ will never believe or be persuaded of anything that contradicts his initial knee-jerk, talking-point reaction.

i'm not trying to bring up racism, not one bit, thats why I tend to discredit "sources" that bring up racism factors.

The past is the past, nothing we can do about it but try to makes things right, and bridge that gap between whites and blacks in America. But to claim the only reason whites don't/ won't vote for Obama is because they are racist is beyond stupid the man is Half Black/ Half White. I dunno, maybe thats just me, but it's stupid to have that type of thinking... IMO of course.

that is equal to saying that the reason blacks had low turnouts in polls in the past is because they were racist . It's that type of thinking that keeps us living in the past.

look the only reason that i stated that race might play a factor is because the post i responded to just stated that older people might just be wiser. if that group voted for bush i'm going to have to disagree.

Man, this thread is a train wreck. I should have saved the train wreck image I used yesterday somewhere for this thing. Best I can figure, someone is saying racism has essentally been dead since the 1970's.

And 60 year old "white people" won't vote for a Black candidate for Presdient.

After 50, you lose your intelligence.

The AARP crowd is supposedly going to vote for McCain.

Can we safely say that there may be some well educated "Whites" over 60 who support the guy? Pretty please? Perhaps even that some average educated "Whites" that are both over 60 and under 60 are going to vote for him?

And who is this guy voting for? Should we care?

(image above is of a train wreck, 21st century style!)

Seriously, I was so hoping that Barack would run for President, get elected, and never have to make a "big production" out of his race. That everyone would know, obviously, that he was Black, but not make a big deal out of it. For me, someone who remembers seeing the "Whites Only" signs on restrooms, at a public park swimming pool in my Southeast Houston neighborhood, and riding on public buses with Blacks crowded in the back, it would have been sweet, sweet justice and proof we had made real progress towards equality among the races in America. Sadly, Reverend Wright and Barack's big speech in response to the controversy put paid to my naive and unrealistic dream. Instead, we have to go through endless cable news programs dealing with the issue, countless magazine covers and stories about it (anyone seen Time Magazine lately?? geez...), newspaper coverage out the kazoo.

The ultimate result, Barack getting elected President, will still be a huge step forward, but a different step than I would have liked, at least in my dreams.

Impeach Bush. Make Him Clean Up His Mess.

I would hope that people would vote based on more than just "payback" for past transgressions. Revenge isn't a good reason to vote for a candidate.

You just defined "white guilt" pretty nicely.
