So why was Howfield cut after just that one kick? Did he not have much leg strength anyway?

Maybe we should hijack this thread into post your Oiler memories

My favorite was in 1993...driving down to San Diego from Los Angeles to see the Oilers play the Chargers with one of my best friends who also grew up in Houston. It was early in the season.

We went the Saturday before and spent the night in the Gaslamp district getting plastered.

Woke up all hungover, I got dressed up in my Oiler best, we bought more booze and started tailgating at Jack Murphy Stadium at 10AM.

Went into the game, kept drinking, not eating.

The Chargers won on a last second field goal.

As we were walking in the parking lot back to our car, a 10 year old kid came up to me and started laughing and pointing, telling me how much the Oilers sucked.

I threw up all over him. :D

He missed a couple of PAT's during that game, also.

I remember we signed Del Greco. Then in the first game against the Cowboys in the Astrodome he missed a PAT (or FG) that could have won the game in regulation. He redeemed himself in OT but still...

My favorite Oilers QBs excluding Moon (90s to present):

    1) Vince Young
    2) Bucky Richardson
    3) Steve McNair
    4) Chris Chandler
    5) Billy Joe Tolliver
    6) Cody Carlson
    7) Sean Salisbury (got cut in preseason)

Does anyone remember the commercial where Al Del Greco was named the greatest NFL player ever?

That was championship defense. Gilbride sucks.

    Not according to Joe Montana...

I remember Willie Davis throwing the ball at that big poster of Buddy Ryan after catching the go-ahead touchdown.

They died to me in 1996, but the Oilers' history ended 1998.

The next time I have a party, I'm going to have a big fat Bud Adams piƱata made so everyone can beat his big, fat, toupee wearing ass with a baseball bat.

How does that back you up?

The franchise still exists. Only the name has changed

If history stopped, it would look like the Baltimore Ravens:

Earl Campbell was the greatest football player of all time, none better, never will be. Some faster, some stronger, some bigger, none better. He is what football is about. The Luv Ya Blue era was the most fun I have ever had as a football fan. I don't think it can be topped. Those Oilers don't exist anymore. It is just history.

Do you think residents of Winnipeg root for the Coyotes?
Do you think residents of Quebec root for the Avalanche?
Do you think residents of Cleveland root for the Ravens?
Do you think residents of St. Louis root for the Cardinals?
Do you think residents of Baltimore root for the Colts?

No, because those residents actually have some self-respect, unlike Titans fans who were also Oilers fans. You deserve to be treated like the low self-esteem whores you are. We Texans fans' new marriage may not be starting off so hot, but at least we're not still married to the b**** that constantly flaunted cheating on us, made us change, and still left us for an inbred hillbilly.
