It seems he is under the impression that he can just snap his fingers and trade for a starting calibur PF at any time. First of all we don't have that many valuable assets to trade, and secondly if he was going to trade last night would have been a much easier time with all the action that happens on draft day.

Now here we sit a day after the draft with not a single PF signed on our roster. Hayes will most likely be resigned, but he's really a backup, and this rookie we got is a long shot to contribute if he even makes the team.

And what makes me nervous about our situation is the longer we go into the offseason without a legit PF, the the more expensive one will be to acquire (either via trade or free agency) as teams will see our desparation.

I sure hope he has something up his sleeve...

I think Morey has done good job. He is so active. He wants to bring there a good PF from FA list or trade. That's the main thing for him. I think he knew he couldn't bring good players from draft. But I can say that Morey has done a pretty good job

I agree with you.I also feel that there is nothing that he can do.

big question is should he have drafted davis, fazecas, or mcroberts instead landry?

did he make a mistake in evaluating the available pfs during round 2?

I'm still upset we didn't draft a power forward, but to be fair we can't actually make any agreements with free agents yet. So to say that we haven't signed a power forward yet and thus Morey is making a mistake is a little bit of an overreaction. I'd like to see a trade come through soon, but I'm not ready to panic yet about not having a power forward signed. Its not like the season starts tomorrow...or next month...or the month after that...

very true. i would've said that we had a decent draft had we picked up one of the other PF's you listed. the rockets would've basically drafted thier first round pick in the second round.

Marcus Camby is under contract so I doubt theres anything going on there, you dont normally try to recruit players VIA trade

The Rox gets a grade D by several writers, and is labeled as a loser in the draft. What is a good thing which can be said for this new GM?

I concur...The Rockets are not done making moves yet. Let's give Morey a chance. Let him do his job.

McRobets= Piece of crap, bad locker room guy, slow, unathletic

Fazekas= Slow shooter, unathletic.....we;ve got one of those, his name is Steve Novak

Davis= Decent player, but his weight is an issue and he's not going to be able to do in the pros, what he was able to do in college.

Tell me again why you wanted these guys?

It's obvious the Rockets are not finished making moves.....give it a chance.

He had better be crackerjack at FA/trade acquisitions because he isn't doodly-squat at drafting. I really hate that the Rockets are the butt of every draft joke in the NBA.

Unfortunately, his track record on trades so far is a dismal failure IMO -- Rudy Gay and Stromile Swift for Ol' Glue Shane.

Oh really? Based on what.. your evaluation of his personality? All we can really look at is the fact that (A) he's an NBA GM (B) he's supposed to be intelligent (C) he was looking great pre-draft.

Taking those 3 things together, i'd put my money on the side that says he KNOWS he can make a deal of *some* kind and is waiting for July 1st.

I have never seen so many posters whistling in the dark and telling themselves, "No fear. No fear."

While most of us feel that he screwed up the draft, we should at least give him a chance to show us what he can do through FA and trades. The draft process is give or take, but the real additions that will help this team will be players we sign or trade for, not a rookie.

He did say on 610 this morning that he has a couple deals/players they are looking at come July 1st. And while Morey is our GM, we still have Yao/TMac/and Adelman to do some recruiting for us as well.

I'm so there with you. The Board has gone from all out shock and "awful" to "let's give these guys a chance."

It's this simple.... Morey blew the draft in a MAJOR way, and with every single announcer talking endlessly about how teams can literally turn their franchise around with a single pick, to watch us blow it not once but three times is so frickin angering I can't fully express myself about the utter futility I feel with this guy in charge.

It's only matched by what I felt when JVG was signed.

We're going to have to include a future 1st round pick to get someone we could have had with a 2nd round pick last night!!!!!

THANK YOU, who gives a flying **** about those other guys. They are not gonna pan out, Fazekas IS Novak, anybody can see that! Davis IS the next Tractor Traylor, anybody can see that. And as soon as I can find a comparison in the NBA for McRoberts I'll get back to everyone. Sure, Brooks was a surprise, but look at Earl Boykins. I'll take that off the bench any day. And Landry is good, believe me he is going to be a good role player. We are going to make a trade, and I guarantee you Morey already knows who we will get and what it'll cost us. The guy will be better than the PF prospects we could have drafted, too. Lay off, and watch some Youtube highlights

I hope you're wrong for two reasons:

    1. because the Rockets (and their fans) are better off if you're wrong.
    2. It'll be hilarious seeing all of you people making these kind of chicken little absolutist statements eat crow if you're wrong.

I, personally, have no idea if the draft was good or bad. I admit it's baffling, but I don't know how anybody can be so sure we drafted the wrong guys as late as we drafted them. Usually the guys who emerge as gems from that late in the first or second round are people none of us have ever heard of. Boozer is an exception to that, but nonetheless. Also, I really don't see how we can be too upset. We thought we'd have one shot at a solid player coming from the draft 24 hours before the draft. Now we have three shots in Brooks, Landry and Newly. At least the odds have increased - as have our assets.
