OK, I'm fully aware that I'm probably one of the most superficial people here. That said, I've noticed my hair has been receding enough to where it is getting worrisome. My question is: Does any hair restoration product work? I've heard that Rogaine, Propecia, etc. help bald spots, but not recession. If not, has anyone tried hair restoration. I'm willing to do a surgical implant rather than a wig. I figure I've got another decade. But I'd rather not pull a "Jeremy Piven." Thoughts?
Someone should know the best course of action. Or one of their friends might. This isn't exactly a woman enriched board.
Hair regrowth products aren't an exact science. The ones that claim to work work better when started early (or $o they $ay) Thinking about it will only cause more stress. I've seen my uncle on my mom's side and I can't say I'm too happy....
im in alot of trouble over here. i certainly feel your pain Fatty. im only 24. Laid back as you like. And receding over the last few years rapidly. My brother is 10 years older - stressed out and runs around like a chicken with its head cut off - and has a full head of hair. its bollocks. im not sure what the anser is, but if i find it i'll let ya know. ive thought about going all George Costanza (remember the ep with the hair cream from Japan or wherever it was!) but dont know if its worth the $$.
I used to nag my father to try rogaine or something but he always said that when you stop using it your hair rapidly falls out, not sure if there's any truth to that..
A .25 cent razor will solve all your problems. Sorry, nobody in my family has a hair loss problem...Can't help you there...Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get a haircut.
Drugs don't cure it, only slow it down and yet, once you stop using them it'll fall out again. Plugs? See Jeff Van Gundy. There's really only one cure for baldness...the comb over.
My uncle had the hair transplant surgery done. This man was BALD. He barely had hair on the side/back of his head, much less on top. He had the surgery, and he now has enough hair on top for a decent combover.
I think this question has been asked before, and someone pointed out this website: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions/index.php There's a lot of discussion there on your options. Me, I started losing my hair in high school. I just keep it really short now. I lost too much too quickly to really do anything about it.
Yeah that was me. I'm glad it was useful for someone. Take Propecia once a day, Rogaine foam in the morning, Spectral DNC at night, and either use Revita or Nizoral Shampoo twice a week. The earlier you start the better. And also take some flaxseed twice a day if possible. With the DNC, you'll be fine in a couple of months. It's basically Minoxidil with other active natural ingredients. That stuff is pretty amazing. In fact, if you want your hair to grow faster, you can take DNC both in the morning and night. I prefer just night because it takes a while to dry and makes your hair feel greasy. The foam, on the other hand, actually dries within minutes and makes your hair look full. It's kind of like a mousse but it doesn't "gel" up and so easy to apply. You've seen those commercials, it really is the easiest part of the morning routine. Good luck
Not rapidly, but it will go back to how it was before you started. That's the only thing that sucks about this treatment, you got to stick with it every day. But hey, you manage to brush your teeth every day, why can't you apply Rogaine? It takes seconds and only costs about 10 bucks a month.
The shampoo system here supposedly works for 50% of people (just like Rogaine, etc.) http://www.min.com/ I've tried it for about 3 weeks now...for me, it's cut the loss by about 25%. It's something, at least.. but not what I had hoped. Stuff I haven't tried yet: Rogaine supposedly works for some people on recession.. at that site (www.min.com), they have a product (Agent) that has minoxidil like Rogaine along with some other stuff. It's more expensive, but maybe works better? Propecia. That'll probably be the last thing to look at just cause it's internal and can have more side effects than the others. Nioxin shampoo, Nizoral shampoo. Both have been rumored to help.. but it's not proven, so who knows..
From people I know, hair loss medications are pretty unreliable. If you've got a decent shaped head, I would shave it once the recession has reached a certain point.
