Badiane was released by his Euroleague team in Germany. I think he's playing for a domestic club there now. He's not going to be a Rocket.

    NBA Comparison: Keon Clark

The best athlete out there. The next big center out of Senegal. More athletic than all those who have been pros from Senegal before, he has terrific upside. Long arms, wide shoulders, great body. Has soft touch around the perimeter and can hit the open 15ft jumper. Good shot blocker, and outstanding rebounder. He won’t box out but will move his feet to wherever the ball is. Was the African Junior Championships best rebounder, and if Senegal guards were up to his level, he would have been the best player.

Weakness: Only problem… The mind. Has to get tougher mentally in order to get to the next level. He will never go to a US college as he signed with a club team in Germany last month. Still very raw offensively, must develop some go to moves, back to the basket skills, and a better 15 foot jump shot.

    -Babacar Sy
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strengths: Very intriguing athlete who needs polish but has considerable potential. Size, agility and instincts. A very good dunker and a great shot blocker. He is very tall with extremely long arms. And has a surprisingly good shot out to 15 feet.

Weaknesses: Lacks strength and true basketball skill. Could add lots of muscle as well as a post game.
Played at the 2002 ABCD high school camp and impessed many with his athleticism and potential.

He's not listed in alot draft list, so he could probably just sign with us, if possible or get the rights to him without drafting him, but he would be good project for our team to taking....only if JVG is not the coach.

speaking of him, I asked about him with the season ticket dinner with Dennis Lindsey back in March, before the Pistons game. Lindsey mentioned that he is still developing and still "raw" nothing really new that we haven't heard yet. He mostly compared Badiane to Francisco Elson, which wouldn't be bad for this team. The interesting thing is that it seems like they may trade him, because he mentioned that they've had "suitors" asking for his rights. Either that means 1) he sucks and we are looking to explore him or 2)he's looking promising and just waiting to develop him.

This photo and the article ware from the 2006 World Championship, where Yao Ming and Wang Zhizhi were all having easy points and rebounds over Badiane in their 100 ~ 83 win over Senegal. Yao Ming: 26 points/9 rebounds (34 minutes of play)....Wang Zhizhi: 19 points/9 rebounds (35 minutes of play).....Badiane: 8 points/3 rebounds (16 minutes of play).

The kid is still very raw.....not ready for NBA.

his former team (the skyliners) are now one of the worst teams in the bbl. his new team (artland dragons) on the other hand is at least an average team.

but all of this has nothing to do with malick badiane since he's just a role player.

he hasn't developed much if at all, though, so he's only averaging 2.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 0.9 bpg. he has the body type of kevin garnett with a little less athletic ability and without the quickness. to make it even worse he has fewer basketball skills than ben wallace and his basketball iq isn't even average for the league he's been playing in.

he was hyped before the draft and he looked a little bit promising a couple of years ago. but as of now it's pretty certain he won't ever play in the nba. so i doubt that we could even trade his rights.

That tells you how bad the Rox draft has been for the past 10 years.

you cant just say the rockets because apparently all the other teams in the nba passed up on them too otherwise they would have gone higher. so michael redd dropped to 43, that mean pretty much every NBA team passed up on him on the first chance they got the draft is a crap shoot instead of focusing on what we and all the other teams missed just focus on what we got instead
