Hell ya I was there. It was held only a couple of blocks from my apartments, so I walked over there to Auditorium Shores. I'd say there were well over 10,000 supporters of all different color and creed. Barack spoke for about 45 - 50 minutes, mostly about issues such as health care, the war in Iraq, etc. He also talked some about everything he's overcome to get to where he is today as Senator in Illinois. He even mentioned that he is proposing all troops out of Iraq by March 2008. I think he's got my vote for the Dem nomination.

Obama ridicules Cheney over comments on Britain and Iraq Obama, speaking at a massive outdoor rally in Austin, Texas, said British Prime Minister Tony Blair's decision this week to withdraw 1,600 troops is a recognition that Iraq's problems can't be solved militarily. "Now if Tony Blair can understand that, than why can't George Bush and Dick Cheney understand that?" Obama asked thousands of supporters who gathered in the rain to hear him. "In fact, Dick Cheney said this is all part of the plan (and) it was a good thing that Tony Blair was withdrawing, even as the administration is preparing to put 20,000 more of our young men and women in. "Now, keep in mind, this is the same guy that said we'd be greeted as liberators, the same guy that said that we're in the last throes. I'm sure he forecast sun today," Obama said to laughter from supporters holding campaign signs over the heads to keep dry. "When Dick Cheney says it's a good thing, you know that you've probably got some big problems." A spokeswoman for Cheney, traveling with him in Australia, said they had no comment on Obama's remarks. Cheney told ABC News earlier this week that Blair's announcement was good news, calling it an affirmation that parts of Iraq have been stabilized. Obama's Austin appearance was part of a campaign swing across the country to raise money for his two-week old candidacy and build his reputation nationally. While in Texas, Obama raised money in Houston Thursday night, where he said he'd like to see an end to the "tit-for-tat" that dominates politics. The Obama and Clinton campaigns fired off dueling press releases this week over a top Hollywood donor who was a supporter of Bill Clinton but is backing Obama in this race. Obama told the Austin crowd that they should try to recruit their friends to support his campaign. "I want you to tell them, 'It's time for you to turn off the TV and stop playing GameBoy,'" Obama said. "We've got work to do." Tickets to the rally were free, but Obama asked the attendees to give even $5 or $10. Obama again proving to be a hypocrite by claiming to want to 'change the tone' of the political debate, then reverting back to attacking the other side. Yawn... when are people going to wake up and actually start LISTENING to what this guy is saying. The guy is a total hypocrite, a demagogue, and arguably the most liberal politician in the US Senate.
Actually, aside from that little zinger, Obama spent most of the speech talking about issues. But let's not let facts get in the way of your delusion.
How many times did he use the word 'audacity'? Wow, he is so smart for knowing the meaning of such a BIG word! LOL Obama is a media creation and nothing more. Inexperienced, very liberal, hypocritical, weak on security, wants to raise taxes, wants to penalize doctors, and really represents a point on the political spectrum that very few people are comfortable with. Once people dig into his stances on issues, and get beyond the fact that he's an articulate, half black man who looks good emerging from the waves of Malibu beach, then he's in for a lot of trouble. I personally expect a Howard Dean-esque fall from grace.
Yes, because we know someone who is inexperienced, faux conservative, hypocritical, weak on foreign policy (or even the slightlest idea of how to deal with foreign politicians), wants to cut taxes but increase spending, wants take away a woman's right to choose, and pretends to be part of the political spectrum that helped him win two elections is much better. Once people fell for the fact that he's got a good name and some catchy slogan, and actually put him the seat of responbillity, he put the whole country in a lot of trouble. Talking about comments politicians make regarding issues are certainly not against his idea of changing the tone. Your understanding of Obama's pledges, and positions seems to be lacking in an extreme way. I would take a day off and educate yourself on it if you can rather than continue to embarrass yourself like you have been doing in this thread. Your welcome for my friendly advice.
Hey, don't sweat it! Jorge is making progress. He's gone from "halfrican American" to "half black man." Once he gets past his skin color he just might learn something. There's hope for him yet.
