    THis is a trip.
Put on the movie, turn down the volume, and put in Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon .
when the MGM lion roars before the picture, press PLAY on the third roar.
NOw sit back and let the album serve as the soundtrack. YOu'll find that the music follows the flow of the film.
its some weird phenomenon that no one meant to happen, and of course you have to use your imagination [IMG]

it works most in the beginning of the film, specifically with the songs Speak to me, Breathe, On the Run, Time, THe Great Gig in the Sky, and Money.

I heard about this a few years ago, but got really bored and had to try it again.

Yeah. I did this one at a party some time ago. Red wine and Mary Jane really help with this. [IMG]

I've done it and it works pretty good. Very eerie.

And, I'm not so sure that "no one meant (it) to happen".

The odd thing is that Pink Floyd swear up and down that they did not do this on purpose. I haven't seen it myself, but from what I heard, some sequences are so on beat that it would be virtually impossible for it to be a mere coincidence.

Damn, I have the album but not the movie, maybe I should rent it and check it out.

It is a trippy experience, to say the least. Like when Dorothy steps on the yellow brick road for the first time and Money immediately starts playing.

    exactly samCassell- another example:
dorothy is balancing on the beam in her farm,
along with the lyrics "balanced on the biggest wave....", then she falls off and the music shifts into On The Run, the intensity begins.

RIght when the mean old lady rides in on her bike, the clocks start ticking ("Time").

its just really strange the way it works if you let it.

What gets me is who actually comes up with this kind stuff? I mean who ever had the thought, "Hey, maybe if I try playing Dark Side of the Moon while I'm watching the Wizard of Oz, it'll be really cool." Truly, it must have been stoner's intuition.

Anyone know of any other trippy things similar to this?

Some of my friends have told me that this works as well with Tool's Aenima and Pulp Fiction. I haven't tried it yet, though.

There's another Pink Floyd sync, not as long as Dark Side of the Rainbow, but Echoes syncs up with the final segment (Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite) of 2001 Space Odyssey...as if that film wasn't trippy enough.
