I've tried almost all the beers out there, and when it comes down to it, there's only one worth a damn.......................the king baby, regular ol Bud heavy. Don't waste your time and money on those fancy boy beers.
I love Guinness...and Shiner is an easy beer -- their Summer Stock is my favorite beer, but I can't get it 6 months out of the year. But if you pin me down and force me to choose one I can actually purchase all year long...i'm going Dos Equis Lager. A German/Mexican beer for an Irishman? Somewhere my forefathers are turning over in their graves.
I don't have a favorite beer. I drink whatever I'm in the mood for. Sometimes it light beers. Sometimes it's a honey porter that I make. Sometimes it's import.
Splurge: Lawnmower (I'm surprised texxx or T_J haven't noted that the St. Arnold's guys are Rice alums...I think. That, or they're just big into Rice) and Newcastle. Bar: Miller Lite or Shiner Bock Home: Josef Hoffbauer Light (The Jeff Hostetler!). Seriously, I love this beer. I'm not alone either as they're almost always sold out at the few stores where they actually sell this beer.
Nah, the owner, Brock Wagner, is a Rice Alum.. they sponsor tailgates at many Rice baseball games and at Rice's homecoming football game. Unrelated, but they also have a tailgating booth at all the Texans games too.. real nice folks that run that place, free tour/tasting every Saturday at 1 AM, how cool is that?
Celebrator, no contest. Honorable mentions: Augustinerbrau Munchen Spaten Optimator Chimay Maredsous 10 Belhaven Newcastle
1.) Anchor Liberty Ale 2.) Schlitz (not the malt liquor, just the lager.) 3.) Bitter End KAOS I.P.A. (local austin brewpub.)
Texas sucks when it comes to variety of beers. It seriously sucks. No matter where you go its the same crap. Everywhere else that I have lived you can get SO MANY MORE!! I asked the dude at Spec's about it and he said that Texas has a really stupid "Label Law" where there has to be certain thing on the label for it to be able to be sold and the vast majority of beer manufacturers do not want to change their labels. Anyway I hate almost all domestic (non-microbrew) beers. They are crap and do not have any taste. I concur about Shiner, I definitely do not like it as much as I used to. Some of my favorites are: Newcastle Bass Guinness Saranac (any but especially the Pale Ale) Corona Red Stripe Sierra Nevada Pale Ale In Charlotte, there is a place called Hops which is just a local restaurant/pub/whatever that brews right there in the store and they make and IPA that is fantastic. I love IPA's.
Most of the time I'm drinking Miller Lite. Some of my favorites though: Dos Equis Special Lager Guinness Corona If anyone shows up to my house with Bud Light, I make them leave it outside. I don't allow that garbage in my home.
Has anybody tried "The Beast"? Not Old Milwaukee, but the Grand Cru that's 18%. It's actually pretty good.
More beer, more beer All I want is more beer More beer, more beer All I want is more beer, more beer When I get home from work and I'm dyin' of thirst All I want is more beer I run into the kitchen and I tear off my shirt All I want is more beer Open up a six pack I'll be downin' it first All I want is more beer I can open up and finish faster than you All I want is more beer Gonna kill a case or maybe two All I want is more beer If there was no more beer then what would we do All I want is more beer More beer More beer, more beer All I want is more beer More beer, more beer All I want is more beer, more beer All I want is more beer All I want is more beer All I want is more beer All I want is more beer All I want is more beer All I want is more beer And when I wake up in the morning My mouth's all parched and dry, parched and dry And I crawl to the refrigerator And I peek inside And I feel like somebody drove nails Into my head and eyes And I'm hoping and I'm praying I hope there's one more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer More beer, more beer
I like micro-breweries and there's one here in the Twin Cities that brews a wild rice stout that's amazing. I was also at a beer tasting festival last year and had an apricot lager that was outstanding also. Imagine instead of a dessert wine a dessert lager. For regionally produced beer I like Summit which is brewed in St. Paul but available throughout the upper midwest. (In case Ipaman is still around that's what we had at the Rox viewing at Mall of America) For widely distributed beers I like Henry Weinhards and Shiner.
screw that... Im proud to say I dont need to steenkin fancy obscure beer. When I drink beer...it is all about the SHINER babeee..
HaHa, I have a pal who is a big Schlitz guy. He has a neon Schlitz sign at his home bar (among counless other Schlitz crap). He also used to "DJ" under the name DJ Schlitz.
