MAN. No wonder I missed JEFF's show at that pub last night... I had to sleep early so I could come in this morning... which is the earliest I have ever been to work. (5:49 a.m.) I don't think I will EVER come in that early again. Supposedly, we are to change server stuff and this is the best time... according to someone here... You know what's funny? People complain that there is so much traffic on the K-T freeway... there was heavy traffic NONE this morning! Freakin' whiners... For those of you with an office job, or those that will work 7 to 6 or anytime in between, what's the earliest you've been to work?
I'm still up from last night drinking merlot wine. I quit seling ice machines for my old mans company last week. So i guess i just drink wine and hang out at clutch bbs. its just temporary
Normally have to be at work at 7:30 in the mornings but I have had to be there around 5:00 before when we had an extreme time crunch to get something done. I am thinking that I even came in one time around 4 in the morning but I cannot remember for sure. The latest I have ever stayed was until 3 in the morning.
I forget to say, I work at an IT shop, and have been doing it since '95, so when I was doing User Support stuff, I had to be here at 7 in the morning. Back then was BAD for me because I would usually come in at 9, but that time it was to take care of either the ILOVEYOU virus, or whichever one had a chick name on it...
Earliest ever was about 4am. But this is a 24 hr operation, so it's not like I was alone. But it is definitely quieter then.
I've been in IT for 20 yrs. I've had to come in at any hour of the day or night. One Saturday I worked from midnight to midnight on a major upgrade.
Does this only count for office jobs? I've had to be on set, in costume and makeup @ 5am sometimes (which would require being in the trailer @ 3). The longest day was probably 18 hours.
In my current job, I usually get to work about 7:15. When my sister went into labor about 5 years ago, I came in at 3:30 so I could get prepared to be out for the day. At my previous job I worked IT for a local bank. We had to do server change overs upgrades and we often came in at 1:00, so we could get things done before the lobby opened.
I've stayed at work for 24 hrs on at least 5 occasions. How's that for early? But besides the emergencies, I've been to work at all hours of the clock.
I don't think I've ever come into an "office" much earlier than 7... except for academic stuff. In grad school, if I had a presentation, I'd usually go home and sleep for a couple of hours and go back in at 3 a.m. or so to finish getting ready. But that's school, even if I did have an "office". Now, while I don't get into the office until at least 8 or 9, I have work to be doing all the time and do it at home and in various places. Last night at about 2 a.m. I fell asleep with my head on my grade sheet. I finished grading the lab notebooks at about 3:00. That's more staying up late than getting up early, but you get to the point where there's not much difference.
Yes ....Remember when the whole world was going to stop because of the year 2000 and every PC needed its patches run and BIOS updated? nevermind
