Honestly? I don't find it hard at all. I ****ing LOVE being a Rockets fan. Sure, there's stuff I'm not happy about, and we have all these idiotic arguments all day long. But I ****ing LOVE walking down the street in Rockets Red. I love even more wearing #34 and people who don't know basketball saying "Hey, who's that guy?" Where I live there's a lot of Nigerians and a lot of Muslims, both groups have proud connections to my favourite athlete of all time. That's ****ing awesome. I love being able to show people pics of Yao and Shaq and be like "hey I met that massive dude at a game once, his voice is like thunder rolling over the plains and he's funnier than all of your favourite athletes (unless it's Shaq, I guess.) I love being able to say "yeah you say Jordan would've won if he hadn't retired, but just go ahead and look at the matchup numbers between us and them? Yeah, you don't even understand how great Dream was." I really ****ing love showing people the footage of Dream making Robinson look like a rookie in the playoffs. We're not Clippers fans. ****, before Steph nobody I knew in the world would've admitted being a Warriors fan. We're not a bandwagon team, we're definitely not a trash team. We've had champions, we've had overachieving 1-man min/maxed competitors and we've had perennial 8/9 seed scrappy underdogs, but I've never been disrespected for being a Rockets fan. Would you rather be a Celtics or j*zz fan and everybody think you were racist? How about a Lakers fan and everyone think you were an entitled prick? Nah, be proud to be a Rockets fan, it's not hard. It's a ****ing honour dude.
It's actually very easy, there's zero stress. There's only been 1 season where we were a contender, 17-18 but cp got injured and that ended that. Now being an astros fan has caused a massive deal of stress (and also joy).
It’s not hard at all. The organization has historically put forth a competitive team. The peaks have far outweighed the valleys. We’ve come close a few times when the ball didn’t bounce our way. It was still a fun ride. But we aren’t the Clippers or the Kings or the Grizzlies or some other also-ran. The fans here are spoiled because in a season where we are picked to be in the mix for home court in the playoffs, they act like we are some bottom-feeder. The Michael Jordan marketing machine which was fueled by ESPN has created a championship-or-bust mentality, which has rotted the brains of many fans. Our team is doing just fine and has themselves in a position to contend now and in the future. I look at a team like Orlando who was so convinced they made every correct move that they gave their whole roster max contracts and became the highest payroll in the league as an 8th seed. Sure, their players should get better, but they’re going to have to because the team is going to be hard capped and find maneuverability difficult. I look at that and think I am glad we are in the position we are.

I've mostly felt ok with the Rockets over the years. I was a kid when the championships happened. But if I were to assess the Rockets eras post-Hakeem, I'd say Francis/Mobley was decently fun. Getting Yao was really cool as was the early T-Mac/Yao days. Then injuries sapped a lot of joy later. But then the Artest/Scola second round appearance was fun. The 3 consecutive .500 seasons were probably the first time I was super frustrated with the team. I thought they should've tanked. Gasol non-trade also was in this timeline. But then the Harden trade happened and I was back on board. Harden era had its up and downs, but in the end 2 WCFs including almost beating the Warriors had much more ups than downs. I'm not gonna lie, but I have not liked the Stone era at all in retrospect. It felt like his entire plan is to tank 3 years and "hope" a star lands. He was pretty passive overall, spent all the lottery tickets (aka 2nd round picks) to wipe his ass of his bad signings. made one draft move up for Sengun (best move he ever made) but otherwise haven't tried to do anything special. He has built a core that is trying to win without even shooting or playmaking. He is somehow in love with signing injury risks. That said, I was into Jalen and Jabari and Sengun. I was doing cartwheels when Amen looked like all world defender. It's just that results have not matched early expectations. So right now I'm a bit pessimistic about the team. But if they replace Stone with a competent GM, or just Stone becoming more competent himself, there's enough to retool into a contender in a few years. At least the cupboard isn't totally bare.
People make it much harder than it has to be... It's a sports team... Accept that there will be more crappy seasons than good... and despite whatever ranting is going on - fans have zero control over the decisions that are made... Since u r not driving the car - u may as well sit back and enjoy the ride... and if it goes off a cliff - so what... its not like your paycheck is dependent upon their success...
It's not that difficult. Y'all are too busy trolling each other and stressing over the comments of people that obviously don't even watch the games. Chill out - whether they win or lose, you'll still need to pay your bills. lol.
We have Alperen Sengun, Steven Adams, and Clint Capella. Seems like a pretty good guy for 4th string role.
Agreed the rockets have historically been one of the competitive organizations. I have a high degree of distrust of this front office. After all, it’s run by a lawyer and the owner’s son. But historically speaking we have been one of the good organizations…even if it’s been a long time without a chip. If the org somehow takes a step forward this season I will feel a lot better. But if not it’s time to make some changes. It’s not spoiled or unreasonable to have high standards for your team. This is where myself and a lot of fans differ. I despise the mediocrity treadmill. We always need to be charting a positive direction and vision of success. Even if we fail, we need to be striving to climb that mountain top. My biggest concern with the org under the current regime is that I don’t see the vision. But I’m still a steadfast rockets fan. Not hard
It's not... I was born in Houston but haven't lived there in nearly 50 years, but I am still a diehard fan of the Rockets, Astros, & Oilers...er Texans.
Im not a LeBron fan, never have been, never will be but I want to feel like this about the Rockets going into the season! I don't want to just contend for a 5th or 6th seed. And based upon what Stone said in bringing KD here and Im paraphrasing, "WE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP, WE JUST WANT TO BE COMPETITIVE". For a GM and a Lawyer, he says the most dumbest things I have ever heard in my life! Why bring one of the Top 10 players in NBA History into the building, at the end of his career, if you're not trying to win a championship?? We should've stayed on in the rebuilding mode, until we found that Alpha. But I always thought the goal was to win a championship, not just to be competitive?
Its been since 94', 95'! The Spurs and Dallas have been to the finals since then. NY has been there twice since then and so has Detriot. All teams I consider the Rocket's organization on par with. However, according to your analogy, we should be happy just going to the games and don't expect anything in return?
We are three notches below the Spurs, a notch below Detroit, on par with the Knicks, and just above the Mavs…
