Apparently JD polls very poorly with the hardcore Trumpers. They think he's "creepy" or "weird". Dont have time to look it up at the moment but Ive seen it come up a bunch in different contexts over the last 6 months or so.

Trumpers greatly prefer Lil Marco as a Trump replacement, from what I've seen.

I kind of begin to suspect that him breaking with Trump just a bit may be a way to try and reinvent himself to keep his political career alive after his stint as VP. I think he's not a guy MAGA will get excited about.
