Daniel Boucher was getting ready for work Monday morning when he heard what sounded like fireworks going off outside of his home near downtown Biddeford. He rushed to the window, where he saw an SUV trying to ram a small white car in the intersection. Moments later, agents in vests stopped the car and pulled the driver out. “He was bleeding profusely from the head,” Boucher said later Monday morning. “He was talking. He said, ‘I tried to stop.'” Boucher watched in disbelief as the man’s legs stopped moving as he lay on the ground. He believes he watched him die. The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was apparently shot by immigration agents, according to a House Speaker Ryan Fecteau, who represents Biddeford. Across the intersection of Hill and Pool streets, a resident named Em heard a gunshot around 7:15 a.m., followed by about seven more pops. Her first thought was that it was a drive-by shooting. She hadn’t heard any yelling before the shots rang out. Em, who asked to be identified only by first name because of her fear of ICE, watched from her window as the small white car circle in the intersection as if the driver had no control. “Two plain clothes ICE agents with vests on pressed up against the driver’s side door trying to guide it to not hit anything,” she said. “All of a sudden it seemed like six people with vests on were running down the street. I didn’t know where they were coming from.” Em said agents appeared to crash a vehicle into the smaller car to get it to stop, then the driver was pulled out. “No one went to him and no one did anything,” she said, her voice choking with tears. After Biddeford police and an ambulance arrived, Boucher said he saw someone appear to start CPR on the driver. Boucher went out to his front door, where the ICE agent he believed fired the shots walked past him. “I said ‘This was awful’ and he said, ‘He was trying to ram me,'” Boucher said. Hours after the shooting, both Boucher and Em said they keep thinking about the man who died. Boucher, who stopped several times while describing the scene to compose himself, kept coming back to the words he heard the man say. “He was saying he was trying to stop and then he died. Why? Because he was driving a car?” he said.
You know what else ICE can spend their billions of dollars on besides body cams that would really help? Marked cars and police sirens. 99% of the time, they are rounding up peaceful illegals who are just trying to stay under the radar. If they ran a police siren, a guy like Araujo would have just pulled over, even knowing it was ICE and this would probably end in deportation. It's the operating in secret, driving like a maniac, and kidnapping in the street that makes these interactions dangerous. Act like normal police. Save the goon squads for when you're raiding cartel drug houses in the desert, but that crap doesn't belong in residential neighborhoods.
They interviewed Araujo family who said they had 20k saved up in a legal defense fund in case he did get detained by immigration at the start of the trump admin. If he knew they were law enforcement he would've quietly been locked up as his family had prepared him. He thought they were criminals
Death squads, necessary to cull the invasion. It starts from the very top. This is the point that no one who is pro-Trump's deportation efforts has addressed: Why must these guys act like a death squad? How can any reasonable person think that anyone would respond with submission when a death squad is coming directly at them?
There is no excuse whatsoever for a single ICE agent not to be wearing a body cam. None! The fact that this is happening shows how little they are concerned with the abuse and killings happening to those confronted by ICE. It's an excuse to cover up and lie, plain and simple. It's bad enough. that they use unmarked cars and wear masks. Anyone could pose as an agent. How in the hell are folks supposed to know whether they are imposters with bad intentions simply wanting to harm them. I can see folks being afraid to pull over. Then you have the dirty agents enjoying a bit of shaming, slandering, and roughing them up, as well as sexually abusing them. It's all really sickening when you think that most of these folks being hunted down and pulled over aren't dangerous, and actually work hard to survive. All this effort and manpower and funding should go into updating and funding more police crime labs and take care of the backup logs for DNA check requests, ballistic tests, rape kits, etc.. Maybe then it wouldn't take years to find the killer or free people wrongly convicted. Maybe then it would make arresting gang bangers, sex traffickers, murderers, drug dealers, illegal weapons dealers, pedophiles, and the worst of the worst easier to do. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many cold cases. Use that funding for social services and such to have more manpower to check on child abuse complaints and monitor abusers more frequently. I've heard far too many horror stories of child abuse being overlooked because they simply have too many cases per social worker. It's appalling. My point is that I want the worst of the worst arrested first, whether they are American citizens or illegals. Hunting down construction workers, taco vendors, and kids coming out of school just seems like a really f*cked up priority. Go for the most wanted criminals.
they didn’t even target the right person A 26-year-old man is dead following a shooting Monday morning that involved U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, according to immigrants rights advocates. The man who was shot and killed was not the man ICE agents were looking for, according to Sen. Angus King's office, who got the information from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. "Since Angus King held his meeting with the Maine Press Core, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Senator King's office that the person that was killed was not the intended target of the operation in Biddeford today," King's office said in a statement. The Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition and Presente! Maine sent a joint statement out sharing information about the victim, who they said was a Colombian man who came to Maine to live and work. "Presente! confirmed that the young man was authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number. He was a member of our community, a neighbor, and a human being whose life was cut tragically short," the statement said.
I know Latinos should be on high alert whenever they leave the house, but this is past the point of ridiculousness these goons can’t even be trusted to go after the correct person of interest just imagine how this looks to a regular person doing nothing wrong going about their day You’re driving and then out the blue 2 or 3 unmarked cars being driven by a bunch of guys in masks drive up to you and try to box you in. Would most people not freak out? it legit looks like an attempted kidnapping or car jacking the way ICE rolls up on people…this is literally what gangs do in neighborhoods where police tell you not to stop at red lights
There's a Reddit thread with a photo of what looks like one of these guys wearing what could be a body cam. Not sure if the claims are accurate or not. I'm sure if it's true that the DOJ will make copies of the footage available to local authorities right away. https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/s/tC9Ng3xoGu Here is the photo... More like Mathew Golsteyn, Michael Behenna, or Eddie Gallagher.
[/QUOTE] Houston investigators complain feds are leaving them in dark over ICE-related shooting Houston investigators complain feds are leaving them in dark over ICE-related shooting. Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare said Monday that his office doesn't even know the identities of the ICE officers involved in the shooting or where they are nearly a week later, which he said is highly unusual when an officer shooting results in a death. "The federal government has not invited us in," Teare said. "The federal government is not collaborating with us with this investigation."
Teare not realizing that when MAGA says they want more "cooperation" with state and local law enforcement on immigration matters, they don't mean the kind of cooperation where two independent entities help one another but the kind of cooperation where one entity stfu and does what the other entity tells them to do.
Temporary halt, except for serious criminal cases. If only they would focus on serious criminal cases instead of going after your friendly neighbor. When the news dies down, I'm sure they will be back at it again. NYT, Bloomberg: Ice halts vehicle stops after 2nd fatal shooting
I’m all for deporting illegals that have broken the law since arriving but ICE has been off the rails since the beginning of Trump 2.0. It’s sadly insane what they are doing and getting away with.
