So I read this trade proposal and chuckled. Sure, why not? If KD's value is this high? Houston: Zaccharie Risacher from the Hawks, along with Duncan Robinson and Ron Holland II + Pistons #1 Hawks: Houston '27 second-rounder, Houston's first in '28, DFS Pistons: Durant Obviously, the Hawks can't have DFS; was he really a coveted commodity? Surely H-town could find another way to make the money work. I can't think this is too serious.
I really don’t like it when Rockets fans waive the white flag and keep assuming “we’re cooked”. Sorry just my opinion. We play those teams tough every year. They’re not unbeatable and they have shown they’re vulnerable. Let’s let the season play out before determining that.
I really think that once LeBron gets relocated, there is gonna be this period of time where the market for Duran Duran becomes very strong. That could happen immediately after LeBron land somewhere, it could potentially happen right before preseason or maybe occurs at the trade deadline.. I would love to be able to see with the team intact until the trade deadline, but obviously that carries the injury risk. I still think there’s going to be a window where he is going to be a very sought after.
The Rockets lottery pick from last year (Malauch) has played very well for the Suns in the SL. I’ll be curious to see if he carries it over to the regular season. When it rains it pours. I would rather have Flemings and Malauch and a ton of cap space than KD and the Suns pick- but I guess I have to just hope for good fortune.
The Pacers are just removed from being a contender. They have Zubic now, should be hoping to go for it while Siakam is still peak. To Indiana Durant Capela To Houston Myles Turner Andrew Nembhard AJ Green Aaron Nesmith Jay Huff Future FRP from Indiana Future FRP swap with MIL top 10 protected. Simply allows us to move up the crappier of one of our picks in 2027or 2029. To Milwaukee Jarace Walker Bruce Thornton FVV 2031 2nd from Houston 2- Future 2nds from Indiana Sengun/Huff/Adams Turner/Eason Smith/Nesmith Amen/Reed Nembhard/Smart
If you can get 2 FRP for him you do it, We aren't winning with him, but his trade might facilitate getting that one dude. DD
I like to think more along the lines of weighing today and tomorrow, not so much "throwing in the towel. It's kinda like tanking prior to the lottery changes. Which would I rather do - ride this out with KD the next 2 years knowing that the odds of accomplishing the ultimate goal are very low or would I prefer to go the other direction, get what assets I can for KD and increase the odds in the future. Eventually Ant is gonna demand a trade out of Minny, or Haliburton wants out of Indy .... or some other young star breaks loose and that asset you could have gotten by trading KD was the make or break of the deal .... I just realize they aren't good enough to compete with those teams in a playoff series unless they are compromised by injuries and I really don't believe that they are in the next tier or even two down the ladder. They are probably a play in team .... that's my opinion. So, I'm willing to take a step back today to get better tomorrow.
Sure I can understand that. But While I may not think this team is championship material at this point with a center and a guard who can’t stretch the floor, I still have hope they could elevate their games next year. What else do fans have but hope and faith in their team? KD isn’t the problem why this team failed. And the chances that Haliburton or Edwards would want out are minimal at this point. Haliburton isn’t a scorer and what this team needs in terms of a dominant player. I have advocated trading Sengun or Amen or both but this is the team we have so let’s be hopeful and excited for the new season. That’s my approach
That's how it feels. LeBron's move is holding up the rest of the NBA (even those teams not holding out a sliver of hope LeBron would join them). And, if so, I don't know if this involves LeBron getting a sign and trade to increase his salary (or did his Bird rights get renounced so the Lakers could remove his cap hit?)
Yes, unfortunately. The Pistons have said that Cade, Ausar, and Duren are not being traded. That might have changed for Duren because of his contract situation, but they don't want to trade him. Bobby Marks, a former NBA GM and now an ESPN mouthpiece, said after the Rockets' season ended that they would get what they gave out last year. He gave the example of a Portland Trail Blazers trade involving Jerami Grant, Shaedon Sharpe, and the Blazers' number one draft pick, which turned out to be the 15th pick of the draft. I don't like that package; however, my understanding is that after this season KD can walk away with the Rockets getting no compensation. I hope we can find a dumb or desperate GM to give the Rockets some assets. Stone messed up with the rebuild when he traded for toxic KD.
No, KD isn't the problem - he's probably the main reason it was able to win in the regular season as much as it did despite being put in a situation he didn't want in being the main facilitator. It's kinda funny that blame him and call him selfish .... like he demanded Ime put the ball in his hands, that wasn't the case. It was Ime who did this, not KD. Hell, I wonder if that team would have averaged 80ppg without him for the entire season. They were atrocious. As for Ant or Haliburton wanting out being a slim chance (right now) that may be true, but being prepared is step one and it's not just those two dudes, there are others who could shake loose. I don't mind trading Amen or Sengun - that's been much of my argument in this and other threads discussing Amen - this dude isn't someone you build around. He's a piece you put next to your star. It would take a massive trade package to get me to pull the trigger but for the right price I'd do it - He's not untouchable. Sengun too .... He's not a rim protector and doesn't shoot well enough to justify that. Both of them are difficult players to build around - and Stone really isn't building around either. Maybe there's a reason he hasn't "picked a direction". As for being excited for the new season - the team has to give us a reason to be excited. Bogdan, Smart and Thornton along with the return of FVV and Adams from injury just doesn't do it. Especially when teams who were behind them got a lot better. I think they are clearly behind OKC, SA, Denver, Minny and obviously the Lakers who beat them with their C team. I think PHX had a much better offseason and they could easily finish ahead of the Rockets as well as Portland. GSW is old but if they add Lebron, you'd have to favor them. Even Utah and Dallas could make a move upwards, especially with the anti tanking rules - a lot fewer W's out there to begin with. It wouldn't surprise me if this team missed the playoffs entirely - especially if KD misses any significant amount of games. No, Stone and Ime didn't give me jack to be excited about ... other than the possibility of a lottery pick in the next draft.
I'd rather have Cedric Coward, all-rookie first team last year whose draft position we gave to the Suns, than KD.
Can’t imagine why Bucks would participate for that plate of poo. Indiana giving up 2 starters, a frp, and 2 seconds for Durant seems steep as well. Great homer trade and I would do it in 1 second.
