I completely follow, but I just think that we put him in too many bad spots to attribute the whole number to him. it will be just like if Thompson has a very high number for this upcoming year. You and I will support it because we want him handling the ball.

if we end up dealing him over the next few weeks I would expect that we will receive two first rounders, a first round swap and a decent young player.

If you are talking about KD, if that was offered he’d be gone already. I think we will be lucky to get one decent player and one frp. The guys most interested have already shot their wad, unless the Portland’s GM is a lot more stupid than I think he is. KD as an add only makes sense for contenders: Boston, Phili, Toronto, Miami, and Minnesota are already out of the running. Detroit would have to do a sign’n’trade with Duran to make the numbers after all the moves they have already made. I guess GSW might get back into the conversation if they lose out on Lebron, but I think Kerr has indicated he’s ok starting a re-build so I don’t think a bunch of draft picks going out align with that. NOP are stupid, but they’re not giving us a bunch of picks unless we take Zion as the returning player. Who do you think might pay that price?

Couple Hypotheticals…. I think that as soon as James picks a home, there is going to be a very short window where the sellers market on Durant really heats up. It will really put us in an interesting position as to if we trade him or not or if we think we can kind of contented. I am assuming that James goes back to Cleveland. I might be going a bit homer.

    GSW Gets
    Durant
    Adams(Brings Value to Title run)
    Thornton

    Houston Gets
    Future FRP
    Yaxel Lexenborg
Brandon Podziemeski(will need to be extended)
    Jimmy Butler

    Spurs Get
    Durant

    Rockets get
    Devin Vassell
    Luke Kornet
    2 Future FRP

Vassell was the first player in San Antonio and he did have to struggle through the rebuild. That being said, so many players have been brought in around him. Maybe he feels a bit displaced. He would be able to come here and be a bigger piece of Kormet fits the profile of a big person we need and it’s not like the draft picks are gonna be great.

I am thinking that they feel pretty confident at the locker room can control the personality and they really just need somebody to hit a few more shots.

I think GSW has a chance at happening, but it would just be Jimmy straight up with one frp or one frp and a swap. GSW has a good front office, we have a putrid front office. No way we fleece them like your trade would. No way SA wants KD’s lazy ass defense on their team. ‘The only way they would do it is if we took Fox’s albatross contract off their hands.

I would support this. I don’t think they would win, but it would be fun to watch them fail. Close to a list of my 4 most hated players. Need to get Wemby on there someway to make it 5 most hated. If any coach could make it work it would be Kerr, but Durant is the cancer of all cancers and I think they would implode.

I think that as soon as LeBron settles somewhere, there will be a window where the trade value of Duran Duran should heat up. A few of these teens are gonna be sizing up their roster and trying to figure out what puts them over the top.

his personality, and the negatives that come along with it are well known, but he still might be the missing piece for some of these teams. and I still think that we can consider ourselves fringe competitors as is.

I would lean toward trying to trade him in February but there is risk with that. I know FVV is 33 and coming off a bad injury, but I still think he is going to add a lot. Smart, adds a lot. Internal growth , that’s a lot. I always figured if we had Durant for three years the second and third years would be the most likely if we were to breakthrough.

I really would love to know what the status of the locker room is. That is going to be the determining factor.

It is difficult for Amen specifically to get a lot of growth with Durant and FVV dominating the ball on the perimeter. That is my main concern with everybody counting on Amen, Sengun, and Jabari taking a major step up. Ime now has two “crutches” to lean his feeble offensive skill set on. The young guys cannot just improve by off-season workouts and shooting drills. If we are building around our young core, then they need the regular season focus to be on their development, not chasing regular season wins by featuring FVV and Durant or God forbid, double bigs.

    @Hemingway

Yeah, I know that you and I are completely on the same page about Amen. it is really tempting to me to trade Sengun to really maximize the lineup around Thompson. But I just place such a high value on a player that is only 23 years old and is under such a great contract.

I am hopeful if we underperform this year then it will lead to a coaching change. or that things get better.

Durant, I would love to see the development of him being the screener for Amen. We know that he really is not an option to finish the pick and roll, but he is tall enough to at least attract attention as he rolls to the basket How he can present himself as an open target that could finish with the right pass. With a man handling the ball, they could just go ahead and break off the play as well allowing Durant to slip or just wander somewhere else for the open look. Mostly though we work on this for the easy pick and pop action and occasionally inverting it and having Durant be the ball handler.

Initiate these Screens about 17 feet out and we gotta hope that Thompson can hit that shot as needed this year. Reduce the amount of time that Durant operates in the mid range while Thompson is on the court This year. Whatever that percentage was, should go drastically down with him outside the arc more. Durant We’ll still get usage in the mid range, but it should largely be with Thompson off the floor.

The vast majority of the minutes that Fred plays need to be with Sengun on the court. And I would like a lot of of these minutes where he is not the primary ball handler. Allow Reed,Smart or Amen to bring the ball down and read the defense. If there isn’t an easy action or a clear advantage, then it goes to Fred for the spot up three or to initiate the two man game with Segun.

48 PG min a game. Imperative that 75% of those minutes go to Amen or Reed. My personal opinion after watching both players is that they both have a legitimate chance to become cards and we probably can use this year to figure out EXACTLY If Thompson will be able to do it and we should be able to get a pretty idea on Shepp If we give him the opportunity.

I am OK If we need to go into 27/28 and let Smart be the full-time point guard for a single season because we know that Reed is more SG/PG and we know that Thompson is more of a hybrid. I don’t think that is going to be the end result. I think one of the two will clearly emerge. but if that is the end, result of us really committing to figuring it out this year then I am fine with that.

Smart, very well may have 3 to 4 more years of productive NBA basketball inside. and we are going to be able to inject a lot of talent into this roster over the next 36 months whether we draft or trade.

They might not average 80ppg without KD .... but with the offseason that they have put together, they haven't closed the gap on OKC / SA and several teams have likely moved ahead of them - it doesn't make immediate sense to trade KD because it is such a step in the wrong direction but in terms of future assets, it makes more sense to get what you can since you are cooked anyway and his shelf life is rather short.

My apologies for repost from other thread. If Detroit is real trade partner I would do

    Houston gets - S&T Duren/Asur/Robinson/2FRPs/1 FRP swap

    Detroit gets - KD/Adams/2SRPs

    Am I overvaluing KD?
