Love it . This is a guy you can play in front of the younger bat first catchers and say that you need to get to his level of game preparation to start over him . Also can't be bad for young pitchers
After today I really like this draft. Houston added 5 of the top ~110 prospects available and although they didn't come away with a top 15 talent like they did last year with Neyens, they came away with a very very deep class of potential star position players and workhorse starting pitchers. Houston's farm system took a big step forward this weekend. We'll see how much it gets gutted at the deadline, but in my opinion, if they sign all their picks, their farm will be solid average overall, with a Top 5 farm when analyzing just the lower levels. Projecting into opening day 2027, their AA infield is the only weak spot, and even there they will have talent, just a lack of elite prospects.

I think that the Astros possibly got the best hitting prospect in the entire draft. There are guys with more power, better bat speed and better frames - but I don’t think there is a better total package as a hitter than Hughes. The Astros got a handful of college pitchers with ideal size, durability and untapped upside. Their kid from Notre Dame is especially projectable. The Astros also got a good group of high upside high schooler bats. Johnson has a lot of bat speed, his make up is consider exceptional and is a hard worker. Peterson has a lot of power and has a lot of fans and was a strong commitment or he would have gone higher. That’s why I like this draft. We will have to see what happens over the next few years - but I really am pleased.
