Yep. Okert should have started this game and gone 2 innings. Then 3-7 would be some combo of Pearson/Santa/Javier/Abreu, then King/Hader 8-9.
Javier was always a tweener.... which shows how stupid management was for starting him over and over again in '23 after signing the contract, when he was clearly gassed. Astros had no plan to load-manage him.
I can’t believe you think hitting Meyers 8th would “unlock him” and magically turn him into a good hitter. So much so that you are still ****ing talking about it.
RIP Meyer’s shoulder, 2021 ALDS in CHI. I’m surprised they got as much out of him as they did after that injury.
I can't figure out why the Astros failed to try batting him left-handed, since the correct strategy is just to try anything. He could have been the next Yordan but we'll never know.
I'm actually surprised our record is this good given how horrible we've looked many nights ... And Joe does deserve a little credit for that . However , with our current roster, we need an outside the box thinker at manager to maximize our wins . The team itself is full of resilient players (and a few not so ) But Idk who would manage . Probably the off-season is better go hire your number 1 guy. Is our bench coach really any better ? I actually think bagwell would be a good manager as horrible a baseball ops advice he seemed to give . Correa for the rest of the year ? JK JK Tough spot we are in . Which is all of crane , espada, and browns . But being playoff contenders for 10 years is never easy
You should believe it. Management was just as stupid today for thinking Javier should throw 50+ pitches. As Major Troll explained, it only takes one lucky flyball per week to make a huge difference.
