Cameron Sisneros hit his 3rd home run since joining the Astros organization and 9th on the season. It's been a rough start to July as he's 3-30 this month, including tonight. Hopefully this gets his bat going again...
Drew Brutcher fell off my radar after his crap start in Ashville, but he is absolutely raking in Corpus. 128 PA isn't enough to get overly excited by, but it's not insignificant...and a .350/.492!!!/.590 slash line is wild over any stretch.
Not sure if he’s hurt or what but he hasn’t played since July 3rd. His AA numbers are exciting even if you normalize his .449 BABIP.
It’s incredible how he’s hit everywhere else except *the* hitter’s park. (Corpus is kind of a hitter’s park but not to the degree that Asheville is)
Looking at his profile, a couple of things that stuck out was that his walk rate went down in A+, and his fly ball rate went up. Can't find split stats separated by level, but his numbers for the season are significantly better on the road. I think as a left handed hitter he may have gotten inside his own head trying to take advantage of the bandbox instead of sticking to his guns as a more natural line drive hitter. His BABIP in Fayatteville was .438, and in Corpus it's .449. No number that huge comes without luck, but with 350 combined PA he was almost assuredly hitting this piss out of the ball in A ball and AA to have a number that high over a big sample.
When he signed the word was that he went undrafted because despite elite exit velo and good contact numbers, he was a zero defensively and only hit line drives. Since he got to corpus he has lifted the ball.
Kevin Alvarez and Xavier Neyens both got one plate appearance in the Futures Game. Neyens struck out swinging, while Alvarez got hit by a pitch and scored a run.
