Yes, you doubting dorks. Dominated. Peterson: 24 points on 18 shots, 8 turnovers Wagler: 7 points on 7 shots, Acuff: 19 points on 20 shots Thornton: 27 points on 18 shots, 1 turnover
I thought he looked ok. He had some early struggles with his ball handling and getting separation for his shots, but he adjusted quickly and finished strong. Encouraging first game for him and Rockets in SL.
If you actuality watched, he was cooked on defense and would have quickly fouled out if it was NBA rules. He can shoot but his weaknesses were more on display than his strengths in this game. I get that Summer League is the time for overreaction, but maybe pump the brakes a bit. He looked very slow and like someone who can't guard anyone and won't be able to get by NBA talent.... buy that's to be expected for a second round pick.
Thornton had a good, steadying impact in Game 1, always in control. At no point did he appear out of step or wildly slow compared to other guys. My guess is that the coaches are asking him to take 3s, which is not quite in his bag. But with some more reps, all that will look smoother. He and Cluff looked great together, and he made Crawford's day in pnr situations.
Cooked on defense but they only scored 86 and Thornton was +20? lol sure dude. And if you watched any other summer league games, you’d know that everyone is fouling. It’s part of the game. Peterson had 9 fouls the other night.
It's fine, you didn't watch so I don't expect you to know what you are talking about. He got cooked by guys taken even later in the second round, he's not going to be able to defend actual NBA players
While there’s some truth to that, Thornton’s 27 points is currently the third most in the league. Put them up on good efficiency, too.
I did watch, and it’s clear you watched looking for things to complain about. It’s called confirmation bias. Don’t stress - I wouldn’t expect you to understand.
