steph shot . 39 with the entire offense geared around getting him open looks and shots

Ime couldn’t get Reed an open shot to save his life… so Reed is absolutely elite at shooting 3s. Saying he isn’t is indefensible so @Dobbizzle you’re just dumb and or a hater. His shooting % would be substantially higher if there was any aspect of this offense or Coaching that was trying to get him open looks

I can't fathom what people are complaining about with a sharp shooter learning to be the starting PG?

He just turned 22 years old and is an elite shooter, he gets yanked in and out of the lineup by an incompetent coach, never complains, just keeps on doing the best he can.

With a proper coach, and a proper offense, we might be looking at the 2nd coming of Mark Price - Reed is held back by incompetent coaching and inconsistent playing time - who knows where he will get to.....but with a record of 17-4 as a starter - it is getting really hard to ignore a man who leads the team to a winning percentage of .809.....or 81% for those of you struggling with math.

The one positive out of this upcoming season if we were a competently run organization could be further developing the young guys. Stop playing KD 37 minutes a night or relying on the double big lineup and actually see what you've got with this young core, especially Reed who's eligible for an extension next summer. We have to find out soon if he's that guy or not.

I think Reed has potential to be a really good rotation player. His physical limitations will probably hold him back from the heights you are hoping for, but there is no reason for the Rockets not to give him more runway to reach his ceiling whatever that might be. Unfortunately, the signing of Marcus Smart and drafting of Thornton, points to a much different mindset by the coach and FO. The good news is odds are FVV and Marcus will both miss significant time and Reed might actually get a chance when that happens. Marcus has averaged 34 games a season the last five seasons and FVV is coming off a major injury and has never been an Iron man himself.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a terrible feeling that if Fred is out, Ime will revert to that beloved starting five of his of Alpi, Jabari, Amen, Tari, and KD. The same lineup that had a pathetic 10-9 record.

you saw it, bro... last seasons playoffs... lol
I love our young guys but none are lead dogs... but they combine for a decent supporting cast...
Thats why im happy to lean into the old guys for a season or two... short term contracts... give our younger guys opportunities to work within a system around a centerpiece player or 2... hopefully some playoff experience with KD or whoever...
if any of our younsters take the next step... cool, then u start phasing out the old timers...
but Amen already had the most minutes in the league last season... do u really think he's not getting enough opportunities? Same with Alpi and Bari... these guys arent riding the pine... lol
Reed... well Reed is another matter... i hope the dude can develop into a pg... but tbh i think he's going to be a guy that comes off the bench his whole career... just my opinion.. and if thats the case, the dude needs to learn to come in cold and hit shots - like big shot Bob... but we'll see if his game progresses and what he does with the opportunities that he is given...

reed is not the 2nd coming of Mark Price or any other white guard HOFer people try to compare him to. I’m with you that we don’t know what we have, he might be really good. But he doesn’t have the handles of the guys he gets compared to. That’s the biggest thing our organization seems to overlook in scouting evals. It’s why no one we’ve drafted can dribble at a high level. Small guards need to have excellent handles to make it in the nba. Reed has middie handles. At his size the lack of great handles probably should have disqualified him from being the #3 pick. Agreed ime is a terrible coach for Reed, but let’s please stop comparing him to some of the best guards of the last 50 yrs. There’s no evidence he’s anywhere near that good. He needs to take a big leap with his handles. Then maybe he has a pathway to being a starting player. It’s more probable than not that Stone busted on that pick. I hope not and I’m excited to see him take a jump this coming season. Whether through bad player development and mismanagement or through bad draft evaluation, how many guys do Stone and Ime get to screw up before they get fired?

that was some ugly basketball. Nothing has really changed. We certainly can’t count on Smart (who has some injury risk, is a bad shooter, and really isn’t a great facilitator), to be a good starting point guard. We can’t depend on Fred coming off that “exploded” knee. And we certainly can’t assume we get much from Thornton who is just a rookie. There’s an opportunity for Reed to step up and fill a big role at both guard spots. Ime better be committed and stay committed to playing Reed, otherwise…what the hell are we doing? If we still don’t know what we have in Reed by season’s end thsts a massive failure.

Amen needs to be given the keys to the car and allowed to drive. even if you don’t think he can become a franchise player, the clear and obvious thing to do this season is to allocate the positions, Session and shots and so on and so forth to Thompson to be able to see what happens.

do all of that while playing him about 36 minutes a game.

No, you're just reading way more than what I actually wrote. All I wrote is that he didn't have "basically the same percentage as Korver" and that Korver was more of a generational shooter. That's it. You all getting sand in your panties over that really isn't my problem tbh, it's par for the course for Clutchfans. Bunch of whiney little hoes everywhere for real.

I think Reed will probably show some improvement in that area if our player development team puts emphasis on training him in that area.
Remember, Jalen Green was terrible in pick-n-roll situations in his first 3 years.
Jalen Green became better in this area 2nd year into Ime's tenure...the same patience we gave Jalen should be equal to that for Reed.
Let's see how Reed's development plays out this season. We have a team option on him ($14M) next season so he could be a valuable trade piece including Fred's ($25M) if Reed isnt trending in the right direction according to our expectation...

Absolutely agree you have to give Reed 3 yrs to make a real judgement. Never got comfortable with Jalen’s handle though. Too many turnovers in traffic and driving to the basket ;)

    Definition of "on-course"?
I mean, this guy was on-course until someone rudely stepped in:

One source says his knee is done. Another source says indications he will be in the starting lineup. It seems someone has it wrong.

Those are entirely consistent when you consider that Ime Udoka is a moron.
