He may be similar to FVV in build and defense, but he can get to the hoop and score (at least in college). If he can do that in the NBA, he should surpass FVV in a few years. That’s a big if.
Thornton is a lot more proven commodity than Nix. I’m interested to see if he can create quality looks for himself and others. If his quickness doesn’t hold him back, Thornton should be fine.
Proven at the college level...and he didn't prove enough to be a legitimate NBA prospect until after 4 years in college. Even after 4 years, he wasn't a first round talent. If you look at what he did in college, there's very little chance any of it translates to the NBA, which is why he wasn't highly touted. It's not even just quickness, he's also not fast, and he can't jump very high. He's perfect for low level leagues that don't have the physical freaks that the NBA does. He will probably do well in Summer League and the NBA G League after that.
