The Senator "appreciates the outpouring of support he is receiving"?

Sadly - the Senator has no idea what happened to him, what is happening to him or what will happen to him - so there is no way he can appreciate the support.

Good news, the senator has been photographed alive and well with his family.

Just in case any of you were wondering why on earth the GOP is silent about Mitch McConnell instead of advocating for him to resign so he can have dignity and rest in his final days on earth..

The current governor of Kentucky is Democrat Andy Beshear

I'd put an age limit. I love Bernie, but happy to exclude some capable geriatrics for the benefit of excluding the soon-to-be-incapable ones. The Republic shouldn't have to bear the risk of geriatric leaders dropping dead or suffering steep declines in ability while serving us. Or playing Russian Roulette with the timing of succession. I liked Al Green, but I supported his opponent for the same reason. 65 is too young. I'd say the term you're running for should be ending before you turn 75. Nothing personal, Bernie, it's just risk mitigation.

For those who think the delay in declaring his death is a cynical political ploy to maximize power, remember we are talking about Mitch McConnell. Not only would he approve of the strategy, he probably recommended it. I cannot think of a better way somone could honor him than to lever his personal tragedy into a political advantage for Republicans.

Can't depend on voters to know anything, but you also need a system to replace people similar to the 25th. Mitch McConnell should have been replaced for sure after his freeze up. Feinstein was even worse as she clearly had dementia and continued to serve. There have been House Reps that have disappeared for months before it was noticed.

Voters are not showing up. They would rather vote for a dead man than the other side.

It is one of the biggest problems with our 2 party system.

I don't think age limits are required however the last two presidents certainly make an argument for limits.

I agree overall with your post but people vote by party and the problem resides in the process of selecting candidates. Guys like McConnell hold too much power especially senators. It's hard to generate challenges to them

It would be absolutely amazing if he appoints Massie just to **** with Trump and MAGA.

Has his wife comeback from China yet? Certainly seems like some serious health issues he has had the last handful of years.

From what I'm reading he'll be declared dead on or after August 3rd, because then they can just bridge over to the midterms without having a "special election" per state law.

If he dies before August 3rd there has to be a special election, and that includes room for all kinds of shenaninagans, including Thomas Massie running, etc.

If declared dead after around August 3rd its just midterms as usual.

Actually it’s the other way around. The GOP would want that special election as soon as possible. What they don’t want is the period in between where Andy Beshear, a Democrat, gets to appoint a Democrat to the Senate in that interim period.

I think the GOP is more than confident in a special election that the maga candidate will win.

But ideally for them they’d have Mitch hang on until the midterms that way they don’t have to spend billions in two elections instead of just one.
