Crane loves big-name pitchers. I don't see us letting go of Cam though. I think everyone thinks he still has MVP potential if he can figure out his how to swing one inch lower. I can see the Astros let Pena go for the right package. Maybe Pena, one of our top 2 prospects, and filler for Gray and Skubal.
Why would you trade for Skubal and create a massive hole in your lineup while doing so? You’ve seen the difference Pena makes on this team when he plays. We have no replacement for him.
Hayden Wesneski is continuing his rehab with Corpus today, and he allowed a run on two hits, walked one, and struck out three in four innings.
I’d like to see them bring in a trusty elite-level, veteran/experienced pitcher… eg: a Verlander-type, who can provide their perspective / ability to deliver and advise the rest of the staff (as a buffer to Miller) while still able to go 6/7/8 innings without getting mentally rocked if they start losing it, slipping the downward spiral. edit: basically a leader who can be the glue of the pitching staff Now- who that pitcher may be, I have no idea. Looking forward to seeing what & the strength/depth Wesneski, Blanco, Javier & LMJr can give the team in these next few weeks.
I hope not. Several caveats to this in my opinion. Dana Brown obviously likes to talk, this seems to be whats going on behind the scenes. I can't believe with all the challenges this last off season with the limited payroll and limited quality prospects, we are going to scrape together a package for either of these guys without really damaging the long term health of our farm system. Also, given our trend towards injuries, pulling the trigger on something like this could easily backfire with Pena or Alverez going on the shelf for the remainder of the year. Snake, I appreciate your summaries and believe like you do, if we hang on to our guys, this draft could really elevate our system. I realize prospects are just prospects but we have guys coming back who can help. That's just my 2 cents.
Depends on what you think Cam's final outcome will be. I see his outcome as a GG OF with a league avg 20 hr bat. Injuries, you cant not make a move or two because you're scared of injuries.
Yordan hit a walk off homerun on July 4th in 2022... Astros won the World Series Yordan hit a walk off homerun on July 4th in 2026... I now believe Astros will win it all this year
Off topic question. Does anyone think Yordan will ever participate in an All Star Home run derby??????
Burrows is **** - stop running him out there, he is a BP pitcher at this point. I would rather watch McCullers than him, and I can't stand McCullers anymore either. Dd
At this point his next start can be with the Astros. Set him up with a tag team partner if he's not fully stretched. No mas on Burrows, he can get some outs in AAA before I wanna see his ass again.
The only way I would ever want him to participate in the HR derby is if we plan on trading him that same year before the deadline. Or, if Burrows pitches BP to him then I may be entertained as well.
I better wake up to a Burrows sent to AAA tweet tomorrow. I’ve been pretty neutral on Dana so far but I swear if he keeps him on the team after this performance I’m going to start questioning whether Dana should remain the GM after this season.
It looks like this when both GM and manager are about to drown. BP is 1 short all the time because can't use Abreu really if possible to win. Wade Jr the saviour is now at .691 OPS. It's only 21AB so he can go which way but last 209AB before this season was .525 OPS. He lost ability with one bad injury, on defense he has no position but fits right in with Astros. GM and manager are fighting for their jobs, then winning tonight expense of anything and then what comes tomorrow. Burrows would have been in minors weeks ago if not Dana's important trade. Smith would have been figuring out stuff in minors if not part of the 1 trade that still keeps Dana employed. It would require manager not afraid to talk to players but Smith would have been pulled or benched doing dumb sh*t over and over again on the bases if not elevated to young star status by Astros before it was close to being time for that. If we hang around few games back of Mariners and let Dana try to save his job by traditional buying we might really be fkd for a near future atleast. He and Joe just grabbing every lever they can reach without any plan. To be fair I don't think Joe has never had a plan more than like "feel Im gonna sh*t better go to toilet". When you look how he handles pitchers that trip to toilet may have failed quite often. I would like to see remake of the movie Inception. The dream heist crew trying to put an "original" idea to the minds of these two and keep failing terribly. They keep waking up and talking the same **** before like nothing happened. Almost like there is no vessel to be used.
