He's worth a top 5 pick and more. Shane Battier was worth a first round pick.

Amen just has the highest valued contract on the roster.

Amen is my favorite player, but this analysis is just untrue.

Ironically enough, I had a tweet in mind regarding Amen that I hadn’t gotten around to drafting. I do think Amen has top 5 ceiling, though the likelihood of reaching that ceiling is debatable and dwindling with each year that passes. I do wonder how much of this public posturing from the Rockets front office regarding Amen is just cope - Jalen flamed out and Jabari is a role player. It is not looking too good right now for Reed. Out of the lottery picks from the rebuild, Amen is really the hope in terms of coming away with a star, otherwise this starts looking very dark. They kind of have to talk up their guy, even if it sounds very hyperbolic.

Anyone who cares to read the tea leaves shouldve noticed this a while ago. This is Amen's team. Reed is second. Jabari is third but tradable. Everyone else can kick rocks.

If you are not aboard the 'Amen at PG' train its going to be a rough ride for a few years. Its happening whether you like it or not. As it should. The Rockets have no other option. Amen either becomes a superstar or this whole thing was a failure.

it is NOT Amen, he is Shawn Marion - atm.

If he wants to be THE GUY he has to be a much better shooter and distributor.

If Amen not being the guy means this whole thing was a failure, go ahead and start the rebuild now. The risk doesn't worth it.

Amen has to work with Keem 24/7 no matter if he is a big or not......he has to develop mad skillz on Offense stat.

    Kobe exclusively sought out Dream.

The margin of error to get past OKC or Spurs is literally 0.5-1 ----- one can only wish they get crushed by the 2nd Apron.

He still has to learn to shoot. If not he will be a pathetic Franchise player, if they indeed designated him as a Franchise player. I’ll be frank, He’s a good starter level player (near allstar, or at least in the discussion), but if he’s your bonafide Franchise Player with is broken shot, he’s an atrocious Franchise player.

I know that if he gets his jump shot to fall at league average he’s a for sure franchise level player, if he gets his shot to fall above league average, he’s an MVP candidate.

What risk? We are already where we are. Might as well give him a chance.

Amen is going to be 28 years old still throwing bricks at the rim and the Rockets will still say he's untouchable for anyone other than Wemby

    Marion was a career 33% 3pt shooter.

Amen is at 22% at the moment (I rounded up).

The "franchise player" debate has been settled. It's 'none of the above'. lol

but i do think our younger guys make a decent supporting cast... thats y i say that we gamble on the old timers (KD, Kyrie?) that we can keep on short contracts... while we continue to look/draft for a star... I certainly dont want to be in the position of giving Kelvin Cato a 6-yr deal... lol

    Apples and oranges...

I dont think Amen can be the franchise guy... but I think he can be an excellent #2 or 3 on a championship squad...

Alpi could be the main guy on a middling .500 team... but will never be on a championship team... d is just too weak for a primary rim protector...

so if ur looking to stay outta the cellar then Alpi is your guy... but if ur looking to be a champion, then Amen can be a cog...

    just my opinion...

See, I think Amen can absolutely be a franchise player. Post All Star break last season, he basically averaged 20/8/5 on .644 TS% while playing fantastic defense. That’s a borderline All NBA line for a guy who had just turned 23.

Now, is that to say he will definitely become our franchise player? No. The issue is, however, we won’t learn that with Durant. Hence why I think we should seriously consider trading Durant and handing Amen the keys.
