Best England squad I’ve seen in a World Cup in 30 years I’ve watched. Very reminiscent of the Spanish 2010 squad in terms of toughness and quality.
Haaland is as good as gets finishing in the box. He overwhelms teams with size, power, and crazy body control. He's like Zlatan with big muscles. He's pretty much unstoppable. When he has a midfield that can set him, it's all over. If Norway can keep their opponents to 2 goals or less, they have a chance because he's going to at least score 1 goal for you.
Zlatan was a hell of a player. As far as being an analyst. Not so much. Need subtitles to understand him.
Two things. 1) It was a horrible call. 2) Regardless of me being an American supporter. The red card should not have been rescinded. Regardless of whether it was a bad call you cannot change suspension rules on the fly. Even if this was on the up and up, it reeks of medaling. there will always be that nagging thought that someone pulled a powerplay card. God forbid the USA somehow wins the cup; there will be an* to it like the 2017 Astros. don't want to win like this. I will say this incarnation of the American team is so much different than teams in the past. Old days they used to just try for a long pass from their zone trying to get lucky play from it. always giving the ball away in their defensive zone. This crew seems to be a much better passing team, and not as much panic to get the ball out of the zone. Poch had a tough go of it when he took this team over, but his methodology has taken root, and the results are quite noticeable.
I thought England was mid to be honest. Mexico was on the attack for what felt the whole game. Englands defense is incredible though! I will give you that.
Meh, 1. The rest of the world is already a laughing stock to America, so literally no one should care what they think about anything. 2. Suspending the red card was the right decision because it was improperly given. I don't care how someone arrives at the right decision so long as they arrive at the right decision. 3. If Belgium thought they were going to be able to beat the US squad at full strength, they wouldn't be crying so much and demanding an unfair advantage.
Belgium is allowed to appeal the decision and are attempting such. Wow. They are scared. Not a good look.
I don't think they're scared so much as they're annoyed that they prepared to face a Balogun-less US and now have to change 24 hours before the game. The solution to this debacle going forward is obvious: remove the mandatory one-game red card suspension and evaluate each one afterwards via a disciplinary committee. If it's clear that player was malicious, dangerous, etc. then suspend them. If they were like Balogun and disciplined for being in the wrong place at the wrong time when the same foul hasn't been called during the tournament then they aren't suspended. This would also limit the influence of a referee to one game instead of having their decision reverberate through two matches.
I've been watching the games at Sawyer Park in Spring (my friends own it). They smashed their single day sales record yesterday. I was with a small contingent of English fans in a sea of green. This World Cup is killing these poor servers and bar tenders. As much as they love the business, I'm sure they're happy that they won't likely have any more nights like this. US games bring the crowd but not the passion (or the volume drinking...literally sold them out of Modelo and Dos XX last night). Dude, WTF?
Zlatan plays the Charles Barkley role. An all-time great that is there for comedic effect and an unfiltered opinion.
