The offer has been one #1 um protected. Rockets can probably get another #1 from Detroit because they are fairly desperate. Rockets haven’t been interested in that and unless KD asks out - I don’t see that changing.
but ironically if he does ask out it’s gonna hurt our leverage and undermine the return we get. I’d rather proactively and quietly work with him to get something done. I’d rather not take the risk of waiting until Feb.
i know this guy is good, but i hate him. should have never traded Jalen and DB. we traded culture for a ****ing mercenary. made people on here turn on true rockets.
The truth is Stone has major status quo bias. Our FO is averse to transactions that leave them exposed. It's rational, within their own narrow incentives. But obviously bad for the fan experience and long term title chances. Since 2021, we have made very very few trades involving meaningful players (as opposed to salary dumps or draft pick maneuvering). Only two basically, in half a decade. So as much as a KD trade seems obvious to all, IMO the bar for the FO to do any significant trade is super high. Absent a desperate offer being presented to them -- something like 3 unprotected firsts; or a young starter-level player they really like, plus picks -- I just don't think they do the trade. I think most likely the FO get reassigned or layered next summer never having taken a big risk, but never having "lost" a trade badly, and with their player relationships intact.
You want two .200 shooters playing together .... on the perimeter!? We saw how bad it was with Amen and Sengun, one in the paint and one outside, that was bad enough .... having those two outside would be a total disfunction on a whole new level.
To Pistons KD and Capela and Missi To Pels Sengun and FVV and Sasser To Rockets Duren and Robinson and Murphy and DJMurray This assumes Duren has irreconcilable differences with Detroit and wants out. They take back center by committee, commit no picks to get KD. Pels are a mess anyway - why not take an all-star big and try and build around him?? Good return for Murphy and a bad contract - FVV is cheaper than Murray and can mentor Fears and Sasser. Rockets change tack offensively without losing rebounding, and gain some rim protection.
They would have to be your forwards, and I think you'd need skilled guards and a floor spreading five for it to maybe work. I have a morbid curiosity about it, but I really don't think it would work.
